Will Mizzou ever move to the SEC West?

If so, when? it only seems logical that they play schools located closer to them.

When the SEC expands to 16 team, yes.

Texas A&M will have to win an SEC west.
at that point, Bama and Aubie will move to the east.
Vandy and Missouri will be in the west from then on.

Don't see this happening any time soon unless the Big-12 completely collapses

You should add to the title, "so MSU will have a chance to win a SECw game"

Should be in the West now. AU belongs in the East.

They should be on the Leaders division.

All scheduling and division issues will have to be routed through Birmingham (check that, Tuscaloosa) before proceeding further especially as it relates to football.

I do, and I don't think the fate of the Big 12 has much to do with it at this point.

Honestly, from a geographical standpoint, if Arkansas is to be Mizzou's permanent cross-rival as is to be believed, it could be argued it makes more sense to leave Mizzou in the SEC East. Each year we would be playing four teams from the only three SEC states that border Missouri (Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas). Those four trips are the closest driving distances to our campus.
The other four games are still gonna be somewhat lengthy trips regardless. Yes, the Mississippi schools are closer to Missouri than South Carolina. Yes Texas A&M is closer than Florida, but you are either gonna have to hop a plane or else be ready for a whole hell of a lot of driving that will sacrifice a whole day for you either way. I make that 12 hour drive from central Texas to central Missouri every year during the holidays, and it sucks. So to me it's rather moot. And the distance between Mizzou and Athens, GA as opposed to Tuscaloosa or Auburn is pretty much a negligable difference when you look at the big picture.
That said, I do indeed live in Texas so I wanna keep playing Texas A&M, and of course it would theoretically help our Texas recruiting to do so. But overall I don't think its a big issue due to the reality that Mizzou currently borders states that field half of the other SEC East teams (UK, Vandy and Tennessee) that the benefit of switching us over to the West really isn't as great as people tend to think.
Minor edit - Oxford MS may actually be a shorter drive from our campus than Knoxville I guess, would have to look it up. My overall point still stands though.

On another note, I unfortunately see the super conferences coming sooner or later. When they happens, the entire SEC will be redivided into pods more than likely and then you will see more geographical sense of the whole thing. Right now, they just did it the best way possible to try and preserve perennial rivalries and such.

ThaKaptin - what is this "preserve perennial rivalries" that you speak of? At Mizzou and aTm we are kinda having to pretend that concept doesn't exist. La la la, I can't hear you, star spangled banner, la la la.

I thought Mizzou was geographically closer to the Eastern schools, primarily because they're further north closer to UT, UK, and Vandy? If not, the average distance between West and East schools for them was within like 80 miles of each other.

bigpapamac is a sage oracle. He knows of what he speaks on this one. Heed his post, OP, and heed it well.

Don't know if it would work but the other two big teams I would like in the SEC are Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Move Alabama and Auburn to the East. Move Missouri to the West
SEC West
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Ole Miss
Texas A&M
SEC East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
SEC West
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Ole Miss
Texas A&M
SEC East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

I don't think so
If the SEC stays at 14 the combination of needing to balance the divisions with the desire of certain teams to maintain specific rivalries makes it very difficult to move Missouri
If the SEC expands to 16 they will essentially have two 8 team conferences with minimal overlap. They could fix that by going to four 4 team divisions but that would require NCAA approval to have a two round division champ playoff to determine a single SEC champ.
So in answer to the OP - No, doesn't seem likely

The SEC West should be:
A&M, LSU, Arkansas, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Miss. State,
Alashama.
The SEC East should be:
Auburn, Tennessee, Vandy, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida.
