Missouri probably wouldn't be able to tackle Jeremy Hill or cover Jarvis and Odell. Our speed on defense would eventually overwhelm Missouri's offense. I see them putting up 24-27 points to our 34-44.

Everybody other than Missouri fans.

You guys focus way too much on silly arse recruiting rankings.
I have heard this from multiple Missouri fans. For some reason this seems to be the one adjustment to the SEC that Missouri has failed to make. Respectfully I am saying that you are wrong. Recruiting rankings do matter but they are not all that matters. Recruiting is half of the pie and coaching is the other half. To win the SEC Championship you need both halves. The 2012 AU team is a good example of great recruiting and poor coaching. Coach Pinkel's tenure at Missouri is a good example of great coaching and poor recruiting. AU was able to turn the program around so quickly because the talent level was already there they just needed coaching that would develop and properly utilize that talent. Coach Pinkel has never won a conference championship in his 13 years at Missouri because he has never had the same quality and depth of players to work with as his big time opponents have.
Using the 247 sports composite recruiting ranking which takes into account multiple recruiting service rankings the trend I am talking about can be seen in the data. I'm looking back at the past 10 SEC Champs and considering the 4 recruiting classes prior to their SEC Championship, making a total of 40 recruiting classes.
Of those 40 classes - The worst ranked was 30th. 39 of them are ranked 26th or better. 35 are ranked 13th or better. 26 are top 10 classes. 15 are top 5 classes.
Of those 10 SEC Champs - All of them had at least one top 10 class. 8 of them had at least one top 5 class. 8 of them had at least two top 10 classes. Half of them had at least two top 5 classes.
Missouri's last 13 recruiting rankings starting with 2001 - 33rd, 26th, 37th, 33rd, 42nd, 44th, 33rd, 31st, 34th, 22nd, 57th, 31st, and 43rd.
Recruiting rankings matter.

Yet Mizzou has the 8th best winning percentage among major conference teams over the last 5 years....ya Mizzou recruits fine, taking a 2 star and turning them into a 1st round NFL draft pick is equivalent to a 5 star recruit no?

10 of the past 11 national champions all had at least one recruiting class in the top 5 within 4 years before the year they won it. Pretty sure the one that didn't was Texas.

I love how UF is just getting written off. People have such short memories...

I think it's a bit of a long shot to expect Missouri to make it back to Atlanta in 2014 but I believe we will be in the thick of the race. Road game against USC and home vs. Georgia will decide it. And speaking of "no hardware" South Carolina is certainly in the same boat despite all that recent success.

I don't believe that win% statistic is correct. Everyone finds an occasional diamond in the rough. The teams that win championships find fewer diamonds in the rough because instead of filling up on 2 star guys they hope to eventually build into 4 and 5 star guys, they simply recruit the 4 and 5 star guys and are immediately building on a skill level that a diamond in the rough might reach until 2 or 3 years into his college career. This is why in general the teams who are top recruiters tend to have more players drafted by the NFL. There may be occasional exceptions but the bottom line is the data heavily supports the fact that the teams who do not rank well in recruiting do not win championships.

Interesting that you mention that because South Carolina hasn't been able to reach the top levels of recruiting either. They have had better recruiting than Missouri but still not among the leaders. 2010-2013 South Carolina's recruiting classes ranked 20th, 17th, 17th, and 20th.

I'm not sleepin on UF. Your roster is loaded with stud athletes and if anyone has the chance for a massive turnaround this season it is UF. Once you get your offense even partially operating to its potential you will be right back up into a decent bowl game. If the offense really starts clicking and scores over 30ppg you could be right back into the 10 win category. I think Roper is a great hire for you guys. Of course bringing in a new OC always has potential to be a disaster but you guys had pretty good luck with the last offensive mastermind you hired away from Duke. Good luck this year.

It may be awhile for them, before they do it again ... decades even.

aubbie fan telling us we can't compete.. so funny!
If we had a DC with something sharper than a cinder block on his shoulders, last year ATL we can still hand you a loss.
keep telling yerself we can't compete lil war-eagle-tiger-let.. and UsCar's know we won't "sneak up" on them anymore. if your coaches think like that, we'll be in good shape.
