Will LSU not having experienced coaches in the booth backfire?

Les is letting all of his assistant coaches coach from the field this season. He's already said that he'll change it if things don't go well.

Sounds like he didn't want his assistants all on the sideline, he can't get his assistants in line, this will trickle down to the players.

LSU wanted to fire him, by November the pitchforks will be out again with a couple losses. There's no way they're going into Atlanta undefeated, if they can get there at all.

I'm a big fan of Cam on the field. GAs are still in the box I believe. I like having Aranda and Coach O down there. We will see lots of hyping of the defense, which is always fun to see when half drunk.

Calm down, Nancy. There will be coaches in the booth. Thanks for your concern though

Nothing negative will trickle down to the players. Personally, I think that's the biggest reason he was able to keep his job. Recruits and players love LM and want to play for him.

I'm not even sure who we have up there - I know for a fact last year that : OC, DC, LB, DL, ST were all on the field. I don't know if Napier (WR) was in the booth? I think Burton Burns (RB) was maybe up there?

Now, with all the extra staff guys (many of which are ex-assistants and even head coaches), you can put them in the booth and get basically the same things you used to get from assistants (spotting, tendency stuff, etc) while assistants can be on the field with their player groups.

I really don't see the big deal.

I remember always seeing Kirby down there for you guys. I hated that Chavis was always in the booth. Aranda is an in-game adjusting coach who gets highly involved with individual players. He and Cam should undoubtedly be on the field.

Yea - Kirby and Kiffin have always been on the field. McElwain and Nussmeier were in the booth, and Kiffin wanted to be initially, but Saban wanted him on the field to deal 1-on-1 with Blake Sims and it kind of translated into our current system of him seeing things and having a lot of interaction with the QBs during games.

Again, if you have guys you trust in the booth doing the spotting and relaying information then having your actual position coaches on the field makes perfect sense.

Bielema said yesterday that Rhoads would be in the box this year. Has to help having a former DC and HC in the box helping out Robb Smith, who's on the field.

Yup not one single coach will be in the booth

Les wants an entire staff chest bump party after each TD

Les is just trying to level the playing field. After bringing in a real DC, sabotaging the O with an 1800's offense won't be enough.

Aranda will go back up to the booth when he feels like his players know his defense. Chavis did the same thing his first year at LSU

Chavis preferred the booth as it kept the flies out of his bucket of fried chicken

I dont see a problem. Evidently we can have our non-coach analysts sit in the booth. So why not have krags sit up there?

Les is tired of hearing people bitch and moan about how Cameron isn't on the field.

He's doing this so by week 2 he can say "it was a mess and we're putting our assistant coaches back in the press box."

It sounds ridiculous but Les would rather lose his way than win with a plan he disagrees with.

You haven't learned anything from your time here. LSU coaches are perfect and top tier until the Bama game, after which almost any LSU fan will readily admit that they are bums that need to be fired.

This thread is months too early for any serious introspection.
