I wonder why Kenny Hilliard feels like he can make an NFL roster. I understand he's got kids and wants to do what's best for his family, but I would think that would be earning his degree and joining the workforce.

Hilliard tweeted recently that he's on pace to graduate a year early this spring.

Nah, they aren't good enough and our chemistry now is the best it's been all year

So probably only 7. Give or take a couple

WTF?!?! You already have 2016 commits? How many?

We already have RB/LB Dylan Moses of '17 also who, at this time, is the #1 player in the nation. His dad posts on the RB a lot. Kid is a freak who already has combine numbers... Featured on SI covers since 8th grade.

Eta: Don't "have him" actually. But he is a heavy lean with his dad being a TD.com regular he's told us all but "he's committed".

The only fear with that kid is that he hits a growth spurt and has to play another position.

Yeah, it's been discussed. He could play a mingo type role if that were the case. I think he's at 220 now as a freshman. So there's a high possibility that you're right.

just because he can graduate early doesn't mean he has to leave. I wouldn't look to much into a tweet about graduating early

Nola.com has identified eight possibilities, several of which reportedly are likely to leave: defensive tackles Ego Ferguson and Anthony Johnson, running backs Jeremy Hill, Alfred Blue and Kenny Hilliard, wide receivers Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham, and left tackle La'el Collins.

Blue might as well leave, I don't think he will get more playing time next year. Ego and Freak have no business leaving but they might for the check. Odell and Jarvis are big time, hopefully we will have some guys to fill those shoes.

There's about an 80% chance that ego and freak are coming back. 60% Collins.

Man I hope so.

Quille
Quantavious Leslie
Diarse
And Avery Peterson (Patrick Peterson's little bro)

Then an amazing WR class coming in.

but I kind of get the feeling that Cameron will leave as well

I think he will give us 3 years. He and Les are old friends. He'll be able to find an NFL OC job just about anytime I'd imagine.

They sell hard that if you come to LSU you're in the league in 3 years. Trying to use the Kentucky blueprint. Time will tell if it's a good strategy or not. We need to put together a major run in the next few years or else the narrative is going to be what would have been if those guys had stayed.

Yes, and Cam can tell them exactly what an NFL WR looks like so than apply themselves like Odell and Jarvis did between the 2012 and 2013 seasons. If Ego and Freak stay put next year can be something special.

I think Cam will be here for 3 years at least. I could be wrong but I seriously believe it. I watched a CLM press conference late summer-mid fall where Miles said Cam Cameron received several phone calls from NFL organizations after being fired from the Ravens but took the LSU job

quote:

Cameron said: "Drew Brees told me when I took the job, 'Cam, I can honestly tell you you're going to love Louisiana. There's no place like it. People here are just the best. People here have a spirit and resiliency and are unflappable. Just move through life with such joy.' "

quote:

Les MIles believes Cam Cameron is not using LSU as a stepping-stone

quote:

His value is clear in the ultra-competitive SEC. Cameron has a three-year deal worth $3.4 million. He is making $600,000 this year. It will go up to $1.3 million in 2014 and $1.5 million in 2015.

I'm sure he prefers being a college OC with a roster full of talented kids more so than the talent he had to work with as head coach of Indiana in the late 90's

ETA: He could leave this year -who knows, but IMO I think we have him for awhile

I agree and I really don't see him looking for another HC stint, just finish out, like Chavis, as a Coordinator. This level or the next, after some time, who knows.

I'm not really sold on this either. It works if you have a bumper crop every year. But look at this year, is there anyone on the D side that has any business leaving early?

Yeah, I think LSU lucked out in a massive way with the CC situation. He's a guy who has been around the block already, tried the head coach route at both the college level and the NFL level but seems to be an elite coordinator.

There's more stability at the college level if you want that as Cam seems to - he's paired with Frank Wilson and Chavis plus has a head coach in Les who he had a decades long friendship with. I would be very surprised if Cameron left LSU before Miles did... I don't think most LSU fans get how fantastically lucky they've been in the last four years to go from the coordinators they had in 2008/2009 to what they have in 2013 (and perhaps the forseeable future)

Me and a friend were talking about this earlier. He said the exact same thing. The only thing wrong with that strategy to me is that you could have potential situations like you have now. I do think in the long run though that the stability in the offense that Cameron has created will make this team far more of a balanced threat in the future. Going to be interesting to see how it plays out.
