Chief gave us a Top 10 defense only twice in six years. And I'm certain with a few possible exceptions, that entire roster has played on Sunday.

At LSU, talent overcompensates for the DC and Chavis rarely produced a defense on par with Muschamp or Pelini.

2015 defense will be an improvement from 2013-14.

Alabama had 372 yards with 193 on the ground. I said 2013, Aggie.

ETA:

494 vs Georgia.

Remember, this defense had 4/5 star talent all around with experienced seniors.

For $400k less!

I would think every LSU fan would be ecstatic about that fact.

No doubt this defense was the reason Texas A&M is only 6-5 over the past 11 games and more importantly 0-4 against Les Miles.

Does this mean that LSU is 6-6 over the past 12 games?

O and here's a 2nd angle if you haven't already seen it..

My bad, I meant to say "Bama didn't even get 200 yards on the ground." Which is true, 193 is less than 200.

Chavis was adamant on moving LSU's best MLB to DE (and did so for a year, causing him to fall WAY behind the other LBs) in order to keep the worst MLB in the SEC on the field.

You better hope he's not the one evaluating talent and making all the personnel decisions.

I'm only upset with the under the table shite. No matter his beef with Alleva, he should have at least told his players he was leaving rather than hearing it from Sumlin's "pool boy."

*checks box score* I don't have to watch the game, I see that Bama didn't even get 200 yards. They have gotten over 200 yards on us in rushing the last two games, with almost 300 yards last year alone. As I said, it can't be any worse. You LSU fans are spoiled because "OMG that player missed ONE tackle in the 4th quarter on third down." It would blow your mind to suddenly have to root for a team like A&M where any quarter that doesn't have a 40+ yard passing TD or a 30+ yard rushing TD is a good quarter.

I'd be a walking heart attack if I had to witness a defense like that.

Chavis will fix a lot of aTm's problems, he is a good defensive coach. I look for marked improvement this year.

Steele will do just like his LSU predecessors, he will use the top shelf talent to field a top defense.

Let the games BEGIN!

Is 193 yards rushing not a lot to you? Jesus you guys are desperate.

Also if you care to see LSU's great 2014 defense against power run QBs, watch the Auburn and Mississippi State games.

He did well with spread teams that lacked a power run. His defenses just lacked aggression in the front.

We've had no real pass rush in 3 years.

I would make some sort of brag that Chavis will give our defense the secret to shutting down LSU's QB, but seeing how LSU's offensive system does that already I don't see any edge that Chavis gives us.

Maybe he can teach Garrett Myles not to be a weak arse bitch against the run.

Or maybe thats not something you can teach.

but Chavis' system works great without elite players. Just look at DJ Welters career.

Relative to what we have done? No. Dude we gave up almost 300 yards on the ground to Bama last year. Only 193 probably gets Chavis a bonus in 2015.

That is what I have been trying to get across every time some LSU fans tries to "warn" us about Chavis's flaws as a defensive coordinator. He has to be better. Has to.

And we were paying over $700k for that shite. $1.5 million for Chavis is a bargain.

Yes, for a year or two. Veteran players will be fine because they know what they're doing already. When freshmen come in, they poor coaching will have them lost and you'll see the same problems that you saw at Clemson, being terrible DB play.

Can you really "teach" something like that?

You have to remember though that Bama's defense absolutely shut your offense down as well. I see a lot of Ags talking about how the pairing of Spavital's O and Chavis' D means championship. If A&M kept the ball for more than 3 downs that rushing total would be much lower.

It's up to the D-line coach to do that. Chavis focuses on his LB and scheme and that's really it.
