Good running games and clock controlling offense makes the Defense look better and keeps the defense rankings high. It's why teams like LSU never have a problem finding great DC's.. A&M and the Big 12 teams are career killers for DC's. Kind of like the Saints

I don't know why you are trying to cheer me up about Chavis leaving but I appreciate it.

Makes you wonder what happened with Steele.

And now you're at 98 with Chavis. What a winner!

How could he be a bad DC and stay in the SEC for so long?
Posted on 11/13/16 at 10:07 am to cardboardboxer
He's not bad, but he isn't some savior swooping in to save your program.

Steele wasn't bad. He had an Offense that couldn't get first downs and keep his young defense of the field.

Cardboard boxer with a solid troll

Well sure. There is only one Saban in college football.

I am serious SDV. You remember the joker we had before Chavis with multiple defenses out of the top 100? Or the guy before him who got fired at fricking Fresno St? Or the guy before him who produced the worse defenses in our history?
Chavis is worth more than Sumlin to our program right now. We can get another offensive guy anywhere in Texas but a good defensive coordinator has been hard for us to hire.
If you were being honest you could admit that.
I don't know. He has his moments still, but I think he lost his fire after 2012.

Steele produced statistically the worst defense LSU had in years.
He was certainly not good at LSU.

I have to admit I am kinda scared we might lose Chavis.
Thanks for reminding us how bad your defense was before he got there.

Which is why I am scared we will lose him to a job he finds more attractive (i.e. With his buddy Les). He might want to relive the good old days.

The offense didn't give up 23 points in the 4th quarter.
No excuses for Chavis last night
