...its coaches had with Cam and Cecil as reported by Joe Schad?

In a statement, Mississippi State's athletic department said Wednesday that it first contacted the Southeastern Conference regarding "an issue relating to its recruitment of Cam Newton." The statement said the SEC asked for specific information including interviews with university staffers. Mississippi State didn't provide more information until July, citing "time-consuming eligibility issues" related to other sports, presumably those involving basketball players Renardo Sidney and Dee Bost.

The statement said Mississippi State has "cooperated fully" with NCAA investigators, but did not make any reference to the alleged phone calls between recruiters and the Newtons.

SEC spokesman Charles Bloom said Wednesday evening that there was also no mention of the reported conversations in either of the school's reports to the league.

Ppl at MSU can only do one thing at a time.

They have a better basketball program than football and needed to square away that before going ot the lesser sports.

They're bluffing. They ain't got shite. I'm sure MSU didn't think it would go this far and now they're backtracking.

agreed. i really think that they thought the Bond/Rogers crap would have stuck and that would have been the end of it for Cam/AU.

I think MSU is worried about the implications that their boosters were fielding phone calls from an "agent" seeking money for a recruit. And that the boosters apparently started working the phones, contacting other boosters with the info (Bond). You could paint a picture of boosters trying to put together a financial package, if you were so inclined.

I get that, but if this SEC spokesman is to be believed, after the MSU football coaches got the eleigibility of this basketball player squared away and then sent in their second report to the SEC, they still didn't mention the phone conversations. I just can't think of a reason why. Were they trying to protect Cam and Cecil?

You mofos have been talking shite, not you but MSU, and we're just tired of "unnamed sources." If you've got something, bring it out. The SEC called you out and you're just standing there holding your dick. Do something or sit down and shut the frick up.

You do realize the SEC is not an investigative body... Untill the NCAA got involved, it didn't matter what information had been gathered.

So MSU reports it to the SEC in January because they have to and then wait 6-7 months to respnd to the SEC's request for more information and then when MSU responds to that request they still fail to mention that one of their coaches talked to Cam and Cam told the coach "the money was too much" at Auburn and you say it doesn't matter because the SEC is not an investigative body? I just don't follow your logic. Seems like a pretty important detail to leave out of your mandatory reporting requirement ot the SEC.

The better question is... If Cam and his family are totally innocent, why aren't they screaming from the mountain top that this is all 100% BS? Cam said he was not going to say if he did or did not do anything wrong and that he is blessed. His dad will only say that he supports his son. I know damn well if I was being wrongly accused of something like this I would be screaming from the mountain tops that this is a total fabrication.

Why did you respond to me and then quote other posters? I didn't say either of those things. Also, I still haven't heard any theories from MSU fans about why MSU didn't tell the SEC about the conversation between Cam and one of its "recruiters". Do you have a theory?

Exactly. It's very obvious that State is trying to cover something up.

They have said they are 100% innocent of the pay for play stuff. He said he was not going to say if he did or did not cheat on papers at FL. Get your facts straight bro.

I live in B'ham and Cam's dad was screaming they were innocent. The FBI got involved and he said he would not comment until the investigation was over.

that would explain the TD against USCe.
