5-6 million a year won't be the driving force, imo.

LSU's recruiting area, instate and proximity to Texas along with a competitive football budget will be the main reasons, along with the opportunity to prove yourself in the SEC.

When I was in high school I went down on a trip to LSU. 1986 to be exact. My visit was the week of the Ole miss game. I hung out with Sammy Martin, Tommy Hodson was an a-hole, Mickey Guidry was cool, Wendell Davis was the most impressive looking athlete I'd ever seen. Back at that time the track had an artificial turf infield and we threw passes out there. We were shown Broussard Hall. We were fed louisiana in huge portions with the etouffe, the gumbo, the shrimp stew over at the "Union". We saw the pregame, etc. After the game Arnsparger had nothing to say to us. When I got home after watching everything I said I wouldn't go there. I remember Bertman saying he was gonna build a baseball powerhouse,( I was a baseball player too) and I thought ,,..right.
LSU is a good place if you are from Louisiana. Being a kid from Alabama, culturally, I didn't connect. Coming back on I 12, by the time I got to Denham Springs I knew I didn't want to be there.

OK

FOR THE FINAL frickING TIME

The state of Louisiana gives exactly 0 dollars to LSU athletics. The athletic department is 100% self-sufficient and even spills money into the academic sector to a tune of 7 figures a year.

Hilarious that someone too lazy to do simple research is commenting on the quality of an academic institution.

So is the point of this story that you're still pissed you missed out on winning a national championship ring?

Difference is Fournette will have a long NFL career unlike all the Bama busts currently working at McDonald's and Wal-Mart.

I don't know about the Bama backs at McD's or Wal-mart, but you are correct about Fournette. He has stardom written all over him. He's the best college RB I've seen since Bo Jackson.

The only good thing about coaching at LSU is that the fans might blame the loss on the officials rather than the coaches.
