Ole Miss gets butt-hurt when they realize Mullen is here for the long run & we will most likely own them until he leaves.
You nailed it bud

You're right, he might; you never know.

It would be easier to win there than State.
Debatable. He's winning now, and creating something at State, it seems. I do think UM is the better job though. Obviously.

Exactly why I don't think he would leave unless it was to the two I mentioned. I think if Penn State offered, he's gone easily. Michigan would take some convincing though.

Same.

"Without justification"? His team is #4. What other justification does a football coach need.
The article was written in 2010 before he had anything to hang his hat on. I guess he claimed a couple of "Egg Bowl Championships."

I'm just curious about what exactly they found off-putting about his ego. Big egos are par for the course for big-time CFB head coaches. Saban's got one. Spurrier's got one. No doubt every HC in the SEC has one to a greater or lesser degree, but almost certainly more of one than the average person. But they singled Mullen out from a list that included Pelini and Harbaugh, both of whom clearly have big egos, so it would be interesting to hear what Mullen said or did.
He doesn't strike me as being unusual, personally. He's a disciplinarian and sometimes a hard-arse, but nothing that would make him unemployable in CFB ranks. I wonder if the real reason they didn't like him was more personal. Maybe they hated him when he worked for UF?

I'd prob be cocky after a 9-4 season and a NYD bowl win at a school like State too. You should know all about being cocky after a 9-4 season. Hell, you should know about being cocky after an 8-5 season.

Mullen arrived here in 2009. Beat a good Ole Miss team with a piecemealed Croom setup.
2010 Went 9-4 with a Michigan Gator Bowl rout. Worst ever.
Mullen was fluffing his bonus / contract. He didn't want to coach there.

He won two NCs as an offensive coordinator and made what, 3-4 BCS bowls including Utah? Pretty good reasons to be confident. Looks like Miami might have made a mistake now seeing as they haven't been relevant since 2005 and pack 10,000 fans a game.

What he has done at MSU is no small feat. Somebody make a list of the last time all these powerhouse teams were ranked like this.. Merlins is our king.

I didn't write the article. I'm just a 3rd party observer. He was obviously annoying enough to completely strike his name from the better job at Miami.

I can see him deliberately tanking an interview while hitting up his own administration for a raise. Not sure if that's the smartest course, though, since having another school sincerely considering hiring you is a better incentive than just applying for a job. But it's all speculation until someone who knows the facts decides to share them.

Mullen would have them back to the Butch Davis glorly days. The admin only wants yes men which is why Golden was hired

If I remember correctly, Mullen publicly denied interviewing for the job.

Evan Stone is the Tom Hagen to Muffin's Michael Corleone.

Looks like Mullen is winning all kinds of personality rewards:
