why is there no longer a week btw last reg season game and SECCG?

is there any explanation to why this changed? I recall in '01 (re: 9/11) the LSU-AU game being moved to this date.
It seems pretty obvious that there should be at least a week available for such situations
fwiw, I really don't give a shite about who bailed on who or got the better end of the deal

The entire CFB season was pushed back a week in 2001 because of 9/11. There's never been a bye week in between and there wasn't in 2001. Everyone played that weekend LSU played Auburn. UT and Florida played the same weekend with the east on the line

So the SEC could eventually do this, of course.
