RT1941, what you are referencing were the headlines that went around the country. What happened subsequently locally was the general consensus, as expressed here, that he was just pushing an agenda for political reasons. No one locally ever felt LSU football was in danger. Like everything else, the national media took headlines & made them sound like a full blown emergency at LSU.

If LSU fired Johnny Jones after year 4, they would miss out on the SEC title and final 4 run in year 5. That's if you are comparing his arc to that of Billy Kennedy.
Truth is, Johnny still stumbled his way to back to back top 3 finishes in the SEC. No one is firing a coach for that.
