It seems like there are multiple teams across the country that are fed up with their ad but schools rarely ever fire them. I remember pat haden was hated at usc long before he left. What gives that makes the AD untouchable?

$$$$$$$$

The ADs that most people get fed up with are still bringing in big dollars due to being at money factory schools.

Because it requires the President to fire him, who typically are not super tuned into athletics. Most presidents are happy as long as money is being brought in and no major scandals hit

We've fired 2 in the last 5 years.

Don't fool yourselves. Eric Hyman and Bill Byrne didn't "step down" and "retire" on their own.

Too many hands in the cookie jar to get quick efficient decisions made...too much division not enough agreement to make decisions

Lots of good little puppets out there

For the same reason middle managers get fired when a VP screws up. It's hard to root out upper management.
