When will people realize TOP means jack shite in college football? It's the most I've overrated stat in the game.

Well that's just completely untrue. Limiting TOP isn't about the number, it's about keeping the other teams offense off the field, keeping your own defense rested and the other teams defense from resting.

He's correct, TOP doesn't mean anything to teams like Oregon and A&M. Under Sumlin we have routinely beaten teams by multiple scores while losing TOP.

It's exactly how Stanford beat Oregon last year. Oregon could not stop the Stanford run and Stanford just kept pounding them the entire game. You have to get a few stops on defense, and then you limit the number of possessions. Limited possessions helps offenses from getting in a groove.

The big key is beating teams like A&M and Oregon in 3rd and long situations. If you can't do that and get a few stops, then TOP isn't enough to win a game.

Cause TAMU's defense couldn't stop a good 5A team last year. They want to see them prove against a SEC West team before they get credit for smoking the visor on opening night.

Because when A&M's defense is on the field, there is always a good chance the other team will score.

Ark's offense won't be SEC good just because of a huge line and a running game. I think the unknown is if Brandon Allen is a good quarterback this year. If you had told me he'd have to be the x factor this year I'd have said fml. He's looked marginally better all year and last week he looked like a different person. He played infinitely better than I've ever seen him play. I still hate to say it but I think our season and this game come down to him. We'll see.

yup. agree with all of this

He may not make plays that make you say wow, but he doesn't make many mistakes. Which is more than we could've asked for after last year
