Why is BCS title game always on a weekday?

So the games doesn't get crushed by the nfl playoffs.

Heck, wouldn't even have to be the playoffs.

Without getting into a ratings debate, I'm guessing a regular season MNF matchup will compete with tonights game in terms of ratings.

Saints-Falcons game ratings were crazy.

I remember in 02 (well, technically 03, but 02 season), it was Friday, January 3rd.

The BCS title game was actually played on a Sunday when LSU played Oklahoma for the title back in '03/04. I consider that one of the worst moves ever because the game was completely overshadowed by the NFL playoff games earlier that day.
