There are a good bit of coaches from the mid to even late 2000s that have really struggled to transition to the game now with spreads and everything else going on. For every Muschamp (his D still holds up), Saban, etc you get a Tubs, Mack Brown, Chiz, Etc.

Even guys like Gary Patterson and Stoops have had to greatly adjust on o to account for their D not being as good year in and year out.

The style of game that Tubs truely wants to play doesn't win football games in 2016

He mailed it in well before TT and Cincy. He has sure come off as quite the bitter old guy since leaving the SEC with several on camera incidences such as grabbing the headset off of the young assistants head and cussing him out at TX Tech. Now telling Cincy fans to "Aw go to Hell. Get a job." Not a good look at all so he must not even care about getting another job in coaching.

Simple. He's a defensive coach and his brand of football went the way of the dodo bird. It's almost 2017 and it's time for him to hang her up.

A lot of his success at auburn had to do with Bama being on probation. At one time he had about 25 players on his roster that would have been at Alabama. Give him credit for taking advantage but he wasn't anywhere near what people thought he was.

By 2008 we were coming off probation, He got beat 36-0
And knew he had to get out because Bama was back. He knew and Auburn knew he had looked a lot better than he really was because of Bamas situation.

There are plenty of Cincy fans that literally despise him more than any Bama fan ever did.

He only had like 3 or 4 legitimately good seasons in his career, to he honest.
This. Tuberville is really just an average coach.

His only good years are 2004 & 2006.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with a bama fan, but I will to some extent. I loved Tubs at Auburn. Truth be told he was competing against Nutt, Croom, Shula, Miles, Saban (both at lsu), Cutcliff during his big years. Also got to play Spurrier's early SC teams a few years.

He was a good coach, but he was made to look really good by a really bad collection of coaches opposite him, with the exception being LSU

He was never very good in the 1st place. Granted he was better than he is now.

He only won about 2/3 of his games. And that was while facing Shula, Nutt, Orgeron, and Croom.

He also probably got better recruits simply because Bama was on probation.

Go check out their message boards. Replay the clip of the fan heckling him and accusing him of stealing money from the university.

Thanks for posting that. I had forgotten how forgettable he was at Texas Tech. Damn...what the hell did the admin at Cindy see in his performance at TT to make them believe he had any interest left in being worth a shite?

TT and Cincy aren't exactly Auburn.

Cincy after 3 years should be a helluva lot easier place to win in a far easier conference than Auburn. Look what Kelly did.

Here are a couple of nuggets from one of their boards:

"Piece of shite washed up coach. Won't renew my tickets next year if he's in charge and I'll spread the word to boycot the program if he isn't fired"

"Jesus December 7th can't come fast enough. What a complete embarrassment. You think we could find a way to fire him with cause so we could fire him today without having to pay the buyout?"

"I retract what I said about him being a good guy/coach and just a 'wrong fit' for UC....he's an embarrassment and total dbag."

His 2006 team should have gone undefeated and won the BCSCG.

In some ways it was the worst coaching performance of his career.

ETA: frick you in particular for bringing up 2006 on the day of the DSOR

Coaching salaries now are much higher than they were when he was at Auburn, even adjusted for inflation.

AAC jobs now probably do pay better than SEC jobs did 10-15 years ago.

Arkansas was one of the most painful losses I can remember and the most typical Tuberville game ever. He had a chance to redeem himself when we were back in the hunt later in the season, then proceeds to get blown out by Georgia. He lost a lot of support that season.
