The guy is just trying to better college football.

quote:

During his weekly radio show Thursday night, Saban said he would like Southeastern Conference teams to play nine league games instead of the current eight. And for non-conference games, there would be 60 or 70 major teams, and they would be required to play each other

quote:

“Not many coaches agree with me because they want to be able to win certain games,” Saban said. “Some teams that want to be bowl-eligible don’t agree with me, either.”

The Tide coach added he realizes his idea isn’t popular among his colleagues. He voiced his dislike of conference realignment, too, “but nobody listens to what I say.”

Win certain games?

In other words I want an extra game so we can add Vanderbilt to the schedule and make our schedule easier than it already is..

So you think replacing Western Carolina with Vandy would make our schedule easier?

Because that is basically what the system he proposed would accomplish.

You obviously can't read.

Saban is saying other coaches don't want what he wants because under his plan...those easy OOC games could not be played.

Saban wants 9 SEC games and the remaining 3 games have to come from only the top 60 or 70 programs.

Isn't this the same sissy who whined about up-tempo offenses after playing Ole Miss?

60 years ago this same guy would have been against the forward pass and given reasons as to why it's ruining college football.

Bear and the CFA probably would have evolved into a 61 team playoff format, if he had lived and had a role in it. He did an interview with ABC in 81, and said he felt that college ball would have a playoff and many of the lower teir Div 1 conferences would take a back seat to the big conferences. He also said once, when the NCAA makes rules, the big conferences lose.. or something to that effect.

Since 2005, only two teams who averaged running over 80 plays a game have even played in a BCS game. Care to venture who they were?
