This is excellent news for his Heisman Campaign. The only player who could win that award using a high school playbook is Cam.

Try to understand that it's a difficult learning curve for a QB to go from a career in shotgun to a career under center. If you can get the perfect athlete to run Cameron's offense it is a very formidable attack. The problem is it takes a special athlete to have all three facets it requires.

Those factets are :
1. Maturity ( this means a lot more than learning a playbook)
2. Awareness ( not only awareness in the pocket, but the amount of time you have to throw when the WR breaks)
3. Atheticsm/Physical gifts ( pocket escape, arm, accuracy, ability to take a beating)

Mett showed that a strong armed Pro style QB could work in Cameron's offense, but it's best to have an athletic QB that can gain yards with his legs after the pocket collapses.

I don't think Harris has the maturity just yet to lead the offense without hiccups. That will come with more experience.

Auburn got to witness a QB last year that had no idea what he was doing. He didn't know the playbook really well and was scared shitless.
He can't really be less mentally tough than that horrific night.

They aren't real familiar with QB development.

welp, he chose LSU to play QB, so obviously he is not a Rhodes Scholar.

LSU is where QB's go to die.

To give an honest answer I think lsu fans are for the most part are in a wait and see stage with Harris, knowing in the back of their minds that if he doesn't show any growth mentally from this year to last, it probably won't ever happen. At least fast enough to be in line with fan expectations. Another mediocre year and everyone will be crowning franks (incoming blue chip qb) the starter the day after our bowl game.

Because we don't know everything that goes on inside the huddle. From just the spring game he looked a million times more confident in himself and the playbook, which I think was a huge issue. He got stage freight, had very little experience, and didn't know all of the plays/checks last year. From every account I've heard he's been called "Night and Day" from his growth since last year and just looks a lot more "comfortable". Not to mention he put on close to 20 lbs

Not really important. He plays in a Les Miles offense.

The same offense that put up record numbers two years ago.

I have always judged quarterbacks by what the coaches don't say. The more coach speak you hear the worse the payer is normally. Things have been very quite coming from the coaches other than saying he has learned the play book, making reads and the game has slowed down for him.

From what I've heard about the scrimmage he still has a way to go in the running an offense department.

Several presnap issues and several bad reads. Of course he also supposedly made quite a few big plays.

But it was 1s vs 2s.

Just because you're every bit as stupid as you were a year ago doesn't mean that everyone else is.
