David Cutliffe?

Cutcliffe was not fit to be a modern-day SEC coach. Low-energy, no recruiting, health issues. Our recruiting bottomed out so bad we hired a proven recruiter (Ed O) to replace him .

In fairness to him, he had a dumpster fire AD during his Ole Miss tenure. Ole Miss is much more competitive now in funding and overall program assets.

His moderate success at Duke is nothing more than anecdotal evidence that he would continue to be successful at Ole Miss, though.

Why would Cutcliffe return to that cess pool? He's got it made now.

You guys were dumb in getting rid of him in the first place.

I don't know many places where you can tell you boss to shove it and stay employed, which is basically what he did.

I'm trying to figure out why people think he was so special at Ole Miss. We had a 2-time Super Bowl MVP QB on campus and only managed a 9 win season and didn't even go to a bowl the year before that.

Because his tenure is sandwiched between dog shite and meh tubby

Cut wouldn't come back. It would be a lateral move at best.

Eli isn't gonna be around to make David look good.

Cutcliffe was stubborn. His defense in his last year sucked and he refused to get rid of his DC or make any changes to right the ship.

If he wanted to take some sort of advisor/analyst or QB coach role then sure would love to have him back. I doubt he would want to leave the quality of life he has at Duke to go back to OM and help rebuild.

I could see Coach Cut going to Tennessee again if Butch flops this year.

He's in his early 60s, and a helluva coach. While he didn't set the world on fire at OM, he still showed a lot of the coaching ability that allowed him to coach Duke -- Duke, a program that even Vandy looks down on historically, and a university that barely knows football exists during the basketball off-season -- to real success. I'd take him as coach at Vandy in a heartbeat. He's one of the best when it comes to coaching up mediocre talent. Remember, Duke isn't exactly landing place for talented JUCOs, after all, so, unlike coaches like Mullen and Snyder, Cutcliffe has to make do with whatever HS players can qualify.

Two things:
1. State's greatest player of all time, Dak, never beat Ole Miss as a starting quarterback.
2. Dak actually shite himself on national TV during the Egg Bowl.

dumb in firing yes but at his age and with his health reasons I think they are going to look elsewhere. Who knows the young guy now may keep it.
