Why does the media talk up first-year head coaches going into their second year?

It's nauseating seeing the media this offseason acting like Shane Beamer is the second-coming of christ for going 7-6 and almost losing to Vanderbilt.

I like Beamer and all but what the frick man I know it's the media we're talking about here but god it feels like they're getting more and more ridiculous with their "predictions" for these coaches that only have 1 year under their belt.

Are there any other head coaches that get this treatment after the first year?

Most coaches show you what they have by year two. They usually have "their" way in by year 2.

He is one that Kelly @ LSU doesn't have his team pre-ranked while on the other hand Freeman @ ND has his team pre-ranked in the top 10! He has never been a HC before! Then another one Rile @ USC pre-ranked in the top 25.
