Why does the Bama AD Have Contempt for their Fans?

Is there not a more dignified way to handle Fan Day? A day created to allow fans to show their appreciation for the team?

Between Saban blasting them for leaving Western Carolina blowouts early and the AD forcing them to run like a herd of elephants to obtain autographs, it's clear there is no respect for the dignity of the average Bama fan

Their fans are obese rednecks who never attended the university. They deserve contempt.

If you were a real auburn fan you would have laid traps before the run.

I really like the one guy who is wearing a coca cola shirt to show he's a bama fan

I actually agree that UA should be criticized for this. Its an embarrassment and why nobody in our admin has said "Hey, we should change this thing so it doesn't look like a circus" is beyond me.

Either organize it to where its a kid only event or move it to Coleman.

This is Alabama's way of culling the sidewalk fan population. Do you have any idea how many congestive heart failures there will occur from those fat bastards running full sprint to their Demi-God?

The real question is why is this guy not allowed to run down Jordan Hare Dye field? The amount of awesome would be unprecedented.

The first few years it was funny, but at this point I'm embarrassed for the fans (*and our state)

We live in one of the poorest states in the country and for many this is one of the few ways they can access a team they love. Why not make the day as enjoyable as possible for the fans and create an atmosphere that shows the University appreciates their support?

Yeah, I used to be upset at the hicks who would bringing their infants out there. Now I'm just upset at the school for just allowing it to happen.

Its pathetic and the real shitty thing is that these "adults" probably prevent kids from getting all the autographs they want.

Or at the very least ban cameras.

Alabama does nothing to promote our "Alumni brand". All you ever see when it comes to fans is the typical sidewalk fan in their Wal-Mart jerseys. But having one of the largest fanbases in the country you're going to have a lot of those..

Just wish they would try to change the image of our fans and promote the Alumni more..

Man those guys live for the chance to finally run across the BDS field. It's the story they'll tell over and over to their grandkids embellishing it a little each time he relives that day.

I hope they never change the "Running of the Gumps".

What I don't understand is why this annual event doesn't get more national attention. It means the season is almost here.

I wouldn't even go that far. Just try not to create situations that exemplify every stereotype people have about your fan base.

Social Media also plays a role. People like Tlay Cravis built there careers on making a mockery of fans. 10 years ago, what happened at fan day was local fodder. Now it's an Internet meme people use for page views
