Why does Nutt have lawyers in this investigation?

Violating NCAA rules is not a crime. They cannot subpoena him. Does Ole Miss still owe him money? Is there some sort of claw back clause that he's fighting?

He filed suit against Ole Miss for contract violations that were agreed upon when he left.

Maybe he's actually mad that Freeze tried to use him as the fall guy.

Ole Miss was trying to throw the worst violations at the feet of Nutt and his staff.

He filed a defamation lawsuit against ole miss a few weeks back- his lawyers aren't a part of the NCAA investigation.

So it's just about his reputation?

I poorly worded the title. I wasn't trying to insinuate this. I was just wondering why he needed to lawyer up at all. The defamation makes sense

They were doing whatever it took to get as much blame as possible off of Freeze.

Gotcha I think it's about his rep and he saw $$ and went for it.

He makes his living now as a guest speaker at coaching clinics and such. If he let them paint the picture as if he was at the root of all OMs problems then he would be out of work.

There was a clause in Nutt's contract where neither party would disparage the other. Nutt filed suit claiming Ole Miss breached the contract by throwing him under the bus.

The Nutt lawsuits illustrates the difference between a lawsuit and the NCAA. Once Nutt brought a legal action his attorneys had the opportunity to view things the NCAA probably only hopes gets sent to them.

Can we all just admit the NCAA has no interest in actually upholding the rules? They're a business. They do just enough to have the appearance of fair governance but they could give a shite less about cheating if it adds to their bottom line.

Ole Miss broke the cardinal rule.
Do whatever you want just don't embarrass us and get caught publicly. Look at all major violations that have happened over the years. The ones that got hit extremely hard were cases that the media broke.

Damages due to defamation
Preventing him from getting another job
Do the math, he could get a nice little check
