It seems like for a good while now LSU and Bama have both had bye weeks before the game.

No they didn't. Lousnana State always gets shafted by those Gump homers in Bham. We should consider leaving the conference. I bet the Big 12 would take the bayou bengals

Finally someone brought up that UGA removal in 12. The office just decided that those stupid Gumps had to play Mizzou? Yea right. Take off the best team in the east to play one of the worst. It's goddamn infuriating
Look, I like you & I agree, Bama has benefited from softer scheduling than LSU
But the Mizzou thing had more to do with being a concession to the Yankee Tigers - it gave them a for sure sell out against a premier opponent

In order to get that bye week, we had to agree to play aggy on thanksgiving night so aggy can prevent LSU fans from going to Kyle and making it like the 13th man or whatever. What did Alabama have to give up to get the bye rule changed?
2007
Both teams had a bye before playing each other
2008
LSU played Tulane and Bama played Arky State
2009
LSU played Tulane and Bama had a bye
2010
Both teams had a bye
2011
Both teams had a bye
2012
LSU had a bye, Bama played MSU
2013
Both teams had a bye
2014
Both teams had a bye
2015
Both teams have a bye

Exactly. The league gave both Texas A&M and Mizzou a home game against one of the best teams from the opposite division.

Dear Chuckle frick, when LSU plays on Thanksgiving, its bye is committed to the week before. LSU negotiated getting first preference on its other bye week on years it has to play aggy on Thanksgiving. Because of Bama's rule on bye weeks, getting first preference is necessary.

Funny how Alabama CLEARLY has the HARDEST Schedule in the Nation. This just adds fuel to their argument

Here is to Joe Alleva and the LSU whiners. Mission Accomplished. They started the national sports media conversation about scheduling bias for Bama, and after almost every national sports pundit from Herbstreet to Gruden kept pointing out the discrepancy on air and in print, Bama suddenly has a tougher schedule.
Oh, and if universal law and karma kick in, Tenn will once again be a force in the SEC.

In 2010 a full half of Alabama's slate was coming off of bye weeks. Alabama went 3-3 against those opponents.) This season, as last, is no different as Alabama once again plays more teams coming off of byes than anyone in the nation, and twice as many as the next teams in the conference. Here's how it shakes out:
Alabama faces four opponents coming off a bye, three are in conference play, and, worse, all three are in a row in late Oct/Early Nov.: At Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU. Two of those are divisional competitors, and, with some overlap, two are historical Alabama rivals. Alabama has its bye, as usual, the week of the LSU game. But, to get to that point, the Tide will have to navigate a month that includes visits to the Hate Barn, Athens, hosts Tennessee, and plays a feisty Arkansas team on Homecoming.
quote:
No one in the conference or nation faces such a gauntlet. For comparison, only two teams in the conference even face two opponents coming off of byes: LSU (Alabama, Ole Miss) and Auburn (Kentucky and Arkansas.)
quote:
How does that fare nationally, though? Only two teams in the nation come close to facing as many well-rested opponents with the additional week's preparation: Notre Dame (3) and Virginia Tech (3.)

Weird you're saying this because you guys have been bitching that its unfair for you guys to play Florida every year and Alabama gets "an easy Tennessee team".

Hence, the karma reference. The universe might have a sense of humor.

Bitching, whining, and making up excuses is the ordinary custom of LSU fans.
