Because when the league is dominant, it helps everybody. You don't think the strength of the SEC helped give Alabama the benefit of the doubt over Oklahoma St in 2011?

If an SEC team gets beat it will weaken our SOS, so I want all SEC teams to win as much as possible.

I always cheer for SEC teams over non-SEC teams. I take pride in playing in the most competitive conference.

Sort of hard to back that sentiment up if everyone from the SEC is getting whipped regularly by OOC opponents.

This. Also if you're an older fan and can remember the days when the national media all but ignored the SEC in favor of ND, USC, Michigan, etc., there's a sense of solidarity outside the conference that was caused by that historic disrespect by the rest of the country.

Do you cheer for officials in games that do not involve Bama.

Because I know you cheer greatly for the officials that call Bama games. like in 1999vs LSU when you cheered when the officials did not call an injury timeout with an injured player laying at the officials feet.

For me it's The following...

1a. Alabama
1b. The SEC

I enjoy the conference dominance. I like to see other SEC teams have success. I like the storylines that the SEC produces every year. I have alot of friends from other SEC school and since Bama is doing so well I want them to have some success too.

It's just more fun that way...

I tend to cheer for teams that I like. I like some other SEC teams. Some I despise.

Funny how that works.

I'm a big SEC fan, and I take a lot pride in the clout of the conference. I've also enjoyed learning more about each school's history because of my passion for history, especially post-Civil War history; which obviously involved the South quite a bit.

With that being said, I cheer for OOC games that involve the SEC, including cheering for Alabama in the NCG against Notre Dame.

One large theme of the South in general has been tradition, which has united the South but has also been a double-edged sword. The South has a lot of pride in continuity (politically and athletically). The tradition of pageantry and rivalries within the SEC are elements I love about the conference.

Continuity has been something that I have enjoyed about Southern culture, but continuity at the same time has been historically discouraging. The progress of integration was glacial at best for each school, but the progress made from Brown vs. Board has been encouraging.

All in all, the conference which represents the heart of much of American history, has seen the most change regionally in the US, but still seeks to hold on to many traditions like historical rivalries, branding of mascot names, etc. Progress in important areas, along with recognizing and honoring noble parts of Southern culture/history is why I cheer for and support all members of the SEC, and is a main reason for learning more about Southern and American history.

So LSU: 1 || SEC: 1b
