Now, it is another conversation to say he is the greatest coach to ever coach at LSU. I might be able to agree with you there.
That's all I've said.

Calm down Bieber, it appears you may have drank too much male protein in your celebration after the game.

Why am I calling you out? Because it is 4am and you are on here still starting chit about LSU. Celebrate your victory and start acting like a man. Act like you and your team have been here before

I'm perfectly calm. Oh and - poster on at 4am calls out another poster for being on at 4am - classic.

And I'm not starting chit. You're the only one upset. Your other fans (who are certainly embarrassed by your terrible childish comments that make it woefully apparent that you are a 13 year old idiot punk trying to be cool) are being rational.

Settle the frick down.

got it. I think most of us LSU fans take it as he is the greatest LSU coach in terms of accomplishments at LSU. I think had he stayed he certainly would have been.

Saban's performance at Bama in the consideration of him being the greatest LSU coach.

This is what makes no sense. I don't really care what CLM did at OSU. Don't care what Saban did at MSU. Wouldn't care what he did at UA except he's in the way. If he went to say tOSU genro's statements would be like a Bucknut saying the same thing...which would make no sense (again).

Keep in mind, South Carolina had a very mediocre history before Spurrier got there. They didn't even have a bowl win until 1995. When Spurrier left Florida, he was completely burnt out. The expectations were ridiculous and he was tired of dealing with the pressure. That's why the South Carolina job appealed to him. It was a job with a fanbase that had very modest expectations. If he did well, he would be worshiped there. If he didn't do well, their fans wouldn't be too hard on him because all of their other coaches had failed. Also, South Carolina was considered a sleeping giant because their fan base is terrific and their state has a lot of in-state talent. It was a place where he had a decent shot at having success and enhance his legacy. That's why he never would have taken the LSU job. Their fan base is even more unrealistic than the Gators fan base and the program was already built up by Saban so Spurrier wouldn't get a lot of credit for winning with them. He wanted to build a program up from nothing than be another cog in a football factory like LSU.

@ dbt_Geaux_Tigers...

I think of it this way although it may not be a clear comparison. Bear Bryant was the best coach to ever coach at A&M and Kentucky. They make movies about The Junction Boys but not about Slocums teams.

If you don't mind me asking, what does the dbt stand for? Dystopia based tiger, drive-by truckers, initials?

Sure, at UK. Doesn't he have the all time wins there? At A&M I don't know who Aggies regard as their best. Maybe Bear, not sure.

LSU whiffed on Spurrier, alright, but it was in 1987 when they passed him over for Mike Archer.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Spurrier came to South Carolina because he likes BUILDING a winner. He knew South Carolina has been terrible and wanted to come in and make something of them. Not go to some place where he would just show up and win.

He came to South Carolina because he knew it would be a tough place to win.

you guys are both right.

spurrier's coaching m.o. is to take a team thats down and build a winner. its really a win-win situation. if he turns the program around, it builds his legacy and cements his all time status. if he doesnt, than its not a big deal as others have failed there and there must be problems inherent to the program outside his control.

as previously stated about south carolina, it was a very attractive job for spurrier for football and non football reasons. im going to guess that since he had already reached the pinnacle of his coaching career while at florida, the non football related(augusta national) factors weighed heavily in his decision to go there.

Damn I guess he screwed up. Could you imagine spurrier having the talent of miles for the past 7 years.

It would be no different really. He has talent there and maybe better at key positions like rb and DE, he isn't playing with scrubs at SC.

Spurrier took the USCar job for the Augusta membership. If the Masters were played near BR, he'd have taken the LSU job.

Plus, I don't think your chronology is exact.
