Why didn’t Georgia bring pressure on Young last time?

It makes no sense.

Protect their secondary which is not great would be my guess. With Metchie out they’ll come with their ears pinned back this time.

It was an elaborate plan by the SEC to get 2 teams in the national championship game… duh

They blitzed a lot. Didn't matter.

Their secondary wasn’t weaker than LSU and Auburn’s though. It’s just bewildering that they just gave him all this time.

They did. The first td to Williams Bryce threw it with a blitzing lb in his face. Their blitzes did not work but they did try so that’s not true.

Maybe I’ll rewatch the game. Young looked pretty uncomfortable against pressure even last night.

It’s hard to motivate the team going up against AU and LSU? Both of those teams were desperate and their bring pressure every single play was moderately successful. They both still lost.

They did. They had trouble and Chris Owens reverted back to awful play. In addition, the starting LG went out with an injury in the 1st Q. His replacement was good on runs but struggled with pass blocking.

They did, but your o line played out of the world.

Nah, Georgia's secondary is pretty weak, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was weaker than LSU and Auburn's, that fact has mostly been hidden away, like it mostly got hidden away in 2017.

The DL played like they had COVID, and the front 7 isn't as good with Adam Anderson out. Still good, but it was probably better than 2017 with Adam Anderson.

If Georgia gets yesterday’s OL pass blocking from Bama they’ll win going away. Owens was a turn style yesterday and the end was getting in his head causing him to false start a couple of times and hold at least once.

I havent rewatched the game. But it felt like the OL had very tight splits. None of the UGA DL stunts stressed the OL (we stunted into the chest of the OL. You have to hit half a man).

Bama knows kirby enough to make proper slide protections on blitzes. That has neutralized blitzes in 2020 and 2021. The OL knows where to slide so that all blitzers are accounted for.

Interesting. Makes sense.

LSU was down to the waterboy in the secondary by that stage. The LSU DL though was pretty good and kept it close and within the box.

But then I see what Georgia did all year and wonder why it didn’t work against Bama. Cincinnati got some good pressure on him as well last night.

Georgia had 8 QB pressures on Young. It wasnt like we failed to get pressure. We failed to finish plays.

Again, i think Bama had very tight splits against us. It clogged our stunts. It clogged our ILB A Gap blitzes. It also clogged the bama interior run game (but that was a tradeoff they were willing to take).
