Probably to gain greater access to recruiting in the Atlanta area. Simple as that. Auburn is close to Atlanta but is not the in state school. ND has held camps in Atlanta recently.

Look this silly thread slipped out before the tragic news hit the press today.

No more snow balls tonight.

And by the way. Since you inserted yourself into a conversation that did not involve you, shall we point out what a supposedly inferior Clemson team did to LSU in 2012? Penn St. in 2009? While certainly LSU has had MUCH more success than Georgia has in the recent past, let's not pretend you are without losses to OOC teams, too.

First of all, I was responding to the OP first, and I responded to the guy who responded to me so WTF are you talking about? Second of all, going back 10 years would still only give LSU three OOC losses with bowl games included. Third of all, I never said Clemson wasn't good. Clemson has beaten plenty of SEC teams, I think the SEC should slow down on bashing them.

I didn't add bowl games because I was using just scheduled opponents and it would not help your case at all. I stopped at 6 because that was Saban's second year with Bama, but if I do just 5, and add bowl games, it's like this.

5 YEARS
UGA 7 losses
UF 6 losses (3 came last year)
Auburn 3 losses
USCe 2 losses
Bama 2 losses
LSU 2 losses

why would we need to go back ten years when it's not even relevant to the modern situation, but if you say so.

10 YEARS
UGA 9 losses
USCe 8 losses
Florida 8 losses
Bama 7 losses
Auburn 7 losses
LSU 3 losses

Like I said, I wasn't trying to flame, but

The original question does present a vexing issue for the majority of Auburn fans.

Here's why:

Alabama recruits Georgia well.

Florida recruits Georgia well.

Auburn recruits Georgia well.

South Carolina recruits Georgia well.

You can say what you want back when GT was the big SEC team on campus they scheduled them quite often probably to get the Southern catholic support and in garnishing regional interest.

Now they have selected UGA as their SEC team of choice in getting the same things accomplished. I'm really not surprised with them choosing Georgia over any SECw team but, over Florida is kinda' shocking and makes one humble.

Truly if Auburn had invented a chocolate milk cow from its Dairy program it wouldn't have made any difference, not one bit.

All excellent points. I guess I am a bit sensitive. However, we consistently schedule pretty tough OOC teams, while some others schedule pretty weak teams. (True, EVERYBODY schedules weak teams, but it seems some teams consistently schedule the Alabama Birminghams and the like.)

Now, that does NOT necessarily include LSU, as they scheduled Oregon and some other tough teams, and have done quite well.

But for some teams to continually schedule poor, weak teams regularly while we play Clemson, Boise (They were ranked #5 when we played them) Colorado, Oklahoma St. etc and then point their fingers at us as embarrassing the SEC, is just ingenious.

Crap. I though everybody recruited Georgia well!

I guess with all the talent Florida has they don't need to come into Georgia as much.

Not really. Going back and looking at what Bama has gotten out of GA over the last 5 years is really eye opening.

Ehh. I guess they do ok, but most of what they've gotten were either guys we didn't go after or a situation where Grantham or another D coach completely screwed up the recruitment when we did go after that player ruining any shot we did have (Griffin, BAW).
