Thats what I dont get. Why not take a chance on Fleck. I mean you know he has had some success

How did Sumlin and Butch Jones turn out? High level success at a lower level doesn't guarantee wins in a top tier job. Fisher and Dabo are proof that coordinators can do well when promoted from within.

Where does O fit? I don't know, but he took a dumpster fire and got the team playing better on the fly. frick the naysayers; I'll judge him after he's had time to get a staff into place and actually run the program for a year

I can see that after not getting jimbo or herman. I think he should of taken a look at Paul Craig or Chris Kleiman.

Lane Kiffen would have taken it I think.

Would he not have been a better hire?

This makes no sense.

I personally think you guys will be ok but trust me...Alabama fans know the feels when it comes to getting snubbed by good coaches and getting stuck with someone you don't want.
Unpossible.

Is the rumor I heard about Herman asking for 6mil from LSU and LSU said no? why? why not pay the man you want?

This

If Herman's your guy then pay him. If he wins at UT, is anyone going to say,"I sure am glad we saved all that money with CEO".

How so? Kiffin isn't a head coach now, not because of his coaching acumen, but because he's shitty at handling the media, boosters, and running a program. O supposedly did those things flawlessly.

Also, barring getting a HC offer this year, Kiffin will be in BR next season regardless.

What's sad is we didn't rush.

No one available LSU wanted. O is still stop gap, he can be demoted at any time.

This isn't accurate. LSU had Herman agreeing to terms. Herman wanted to wait to hear from UT, and Alleva said the offer wouldn't be there for that long.

I am confused that after a midseason firing, they did not have some big names ready.

Honestly, they should have made it clear from the first O game that he was not in the running.

I do not think O will be a disaster, but if the complaints against Miles warranted firing, I am not sure LSU is any better off with O.

And LSU will need a qb... I wish we had one to loan you, but we still need one too.

Not unlike the Les' firing. He had plenty of support after the Auburn loss and took advantage of the ground swell and knee jerked the firing not having a backup plan. You have this much time to find a replacement better than Les and whiff, you need to be gone. Orgeron would have waited as long as it would have taken but Aleva flinched with the Herman thing and his ego pushed him to pull the trigger. There was plenty enough support for Orgeron and he must have felt it was safe. I think the backlash will build and it will not be pretty for Aleva.

Other than Fisher and Herman, what "big names" we attainable?

Great points. He's shown he can win in a tough situation, kids love him, great recruiter, especially in Louisiana. If he surround himself with good people, this could work out very well for you guys. Why not give him a year or two to see what he can do? There's always going to be an up and coming flavor of the month.

Alleva painted himself into an Orgeron corner by firing Miles when he did. Probably should have let Les finish the season but worked behind the scenes to get the next coach. You either have a coach or you need a coach. Adding an "interim" into the equation adds a complexity that rarely pans out well.

This is the correct answer. LSU got caught up in the optics and the PR game that Texas was throwing out there.

Not hating on the hire, just an observation regarding the circumstances

But Oregron has never even been a coordinator.

This was a bad hire wrapped in a bad search with a bow of emotional decisions on top.
