LSU pulls fans statewide but especially from a 75 mile radius for the core of its fanbase. Giving them so little advance notice means people just can't plan adequately. Part of the same reputation for tailgating goes into a financial commitment to get hotel accommodations, food bought, tailgating equipment and expenses covered, and lastly, time allotted for.

People schedule their lives around Football Season in the Fall. When we have a road game, it's usually chock full of social obligations. Weddings, showers, etc.

Our PA announcer is a guy whose been around LSU since Pistol Pete Maravich was lighting it up in the Cow Palace. He missed the LSU game Saturday because he had to officiate a wedding for friends.

Between work, social obligations, bow hunting season, and just flat out short notice, it's no surprise attendance wasn't what it normally is

This. Unlike College Station/Bryan, TX, there are actually things to do in Baton Rouge, so we have lives outside of our football team that consists of numerous other fun things besides constantly talking trash about the other team I am afraid of losing to.

1.
LSU had two days to put this game together. 2.
LSU did not have time to print tickets, they allowed season ticket holders to use their Western Ky tickets, and had general general admission for the rest.
2.
Although ESPN for some bizarre reason never showed the West side, it was totally full. It was just the East that was sparse.
3.
There's these things called "plans" that people made before the season for this 'road" game:
Weddings, reunions, vacations, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, work, weekend getaways to NOLA or the Gulf Coast, etc., most that were not changeable or refundable...

ent. I guess for most normal fans $75 a pop for short notice was too much. I was pretty disappointed with the turnout. yeah, it was a guaranteed win, but it's still SEC football. I bought 3 and took family. Was the first game I attended this season too. Why wouldnt you go? First heisman player (probably) at LSU in decades, couldve broke the 250 rushing yrd mark record, was supporting USCe athletics, one of the strangest games in SEC history, etc. There were a lot of reasons to go.

Wedding, I've been to every home game this season and will go to every home game. Not one scheduled 3 days in advance. I would have still gone if it was an 11am kick off though.

1. Short notice.
2a. Day game.
2b. Did you notice that the west side of the stadium (the part of the stadium in the shade) sold out first while east side had sparse crowds? We hate day games. Lots I'd rather do than sit in the sun for three hours.
2c. Easily would have had another 20k fans had the game been at night.

You know when the public address announcer himself can't make it that it must have been a really tough one for many to attend.
