Someone posted this on another site.

On the USC 2013 roster he had
10-5 star players
44-4 star players
This was his last year there and the sanctions were supposed to be at their worst.

That's some Alabama/Georgia type talent on that roster except USC is and was in a weak conference.

How does he fail with that kind of talent?

Can you imagine what he could do with Arkansas talent?

Too young, too arrogant, and not ready. I still don't know if he is ready for a major job, but I think we're all going to find out.

SoCal has to be run by the biggest bunch of jackasses on the planet. Not a place to learn on the job, they are a coaching carousel like ut or Nebraska.

Combination of a lot of things... debilitating sanctions, young and immature, and maybe USC isn't as easy of a place to win at as people thought.

Lane Kiffin was the only person on the planet that was unaware of the fact that he was only hired to be a placeholder to get them past sanctions. His records and achievements as a HC were damned mediocre at that point in time and they gave about as much support to him as you'd expect.

I don't know what that means in terms of predicting his future but I don't believe USC ever wanted Lane as a long-term coach and that had to have at least some impact.

Too many distractions for their players. You saw how Hollywood those good Pete Carrol teams were. LA must be hard on a young baw.

He was down like 15 scholarship players. It doesn't matter too much if you've got great players at the top, you still need a full roster of players to work with or the entire program suffers for it. Not to mention the depth issues.

5* talent on the 2-deep, but then walk-ons after that. It's gonna take a toll late in the season. I'll bet (haven't looked) you'll find that his losses came more at the tail end of the season.

And either way, doesn't matter much. I think it's a done deal at this point and we will find out if he's ready to compete in the SEC soon enough.

I feel like it's this. Same thing with Coach O. Learning from mistakes is a must

He’s just not a good HC. That’s all there is to it. He’s got a great football mind and he’s a good recruiter. He’s easily a top 10 OC.

Being a college HC involves so much more than that though. You have to be completely devoted to your job. You have to have an insane work ethic. You have to be a motivator and set the tone for discipline, focus, energy, etc. Kiffin just doesn’t have that personality. He loves the X’s and O’s and the in-game chess match, not so much instilling discipline and hard work.

I honestly think he might be a better fit for the NFL than college.

His team is playing for its second conference title in three years. He may well be a little better at it these days than you think.

He got fired 5 games into the season.

His losses were to the least talented team in the conference with only 3 star players Washington St. 10-7 and it was only Leach's second year there.

Then he lost to Arizona St. 41-62.

Orgeron finished out the season as interim with a 6-2 record with losses to Notre Dame and UCLA who was ranked at the time.

It wasn't a depth issue either there was plenty of depth on that roster at all positions.

I hope Ole Miss is dumb enough to hire LK over Norvell or Napier. He’ll even Healy for that matter.

Bill Clark at UAB is going to his 2nd conference championship game in 2 years with a far less talented roster.

Difference is Clark didn't have a down year in between where he only won 5 games.

Should Ole Miss and Arkansas try to hire Clark instead?

Someone was saying earlier today that Clark supposedly hasn't even been contacted by anyone at the P5 level. That seems crazy to me.
