I watched a little of the commentary after the announcement last night and it seems to me that the committee doesn't even care if the teams win their conferences. How could you put someone in the Championship "mix" if they don't even win their respective conference? How do you guys see it?

This isn't like the shitty newspaper rankings where #10 loses by a FG on the road to the #1 team in the country, while #11 beats a 3-6 team by 3 points and jumps them just because "they won."

It looks to me like this committee will rank these teams however they see fit after each weekend. The only reason they decided to rank these teams so early is for pure entertainment and to get people talking. It's like a two month build up.

LET ALONE

Well it is a fact that a team in the system we had came in 3rd at best in their conference lifted the trophy. That alone is a joke!

I think UGA could win the SEC and not go with only one loss. The committee thinks TCU, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Florida State, and Michigan State are all better, and none of them are likely to lose.

Oh how humorous this board will be when someone like a 10-3 Penn State makes it to the college playoff over non title winning 11-1 LSU team.

It will be mathematically impossible to bump all the "conference " champion threads done by LSU fans since 2011.

And please don't cheapen yourselves now by stating you'd be OK with my hypothetical, because everyone knows you'd be incensed.

The World Series tonight is between two teams that did not even win their own division. Blasphemy.

Exactly the same. Win the division or go home no?

you think a professional sport that has a post season and college sport that uses a beauty pageant to select its champion are the same?

Waaaaaayyyyy too much is being made of this initial ranking. Most of the SEC teams play each other and someone has to lose. All of that will take care of itself. The committee knows this. They ranked what they thought were the best teams knowing full well that it is fluid and will change every week with one or more dropping. Better than it being done in vacuum and we wake up December 7 or whenever the final ranking comes out and question 9 ways from Sunday how they did that. I think when championship Saturday comes around, some weight will be given to a Champion if they are in a position to jump someone that is not a conference champion.

If the playoffs aren't gonna be conference champions, then they need to stop having conference title games. Its impossible to be the best team in cfb ( national champ), if you're not the best team in your own conference.

2011 proved you can be the best team in your conference without winning it...

If Georgia beats Auburn and then the SEC West winner in the SEC CG they'll almost assuredly be the highest ranked 1 loss team.

Here's why it's clearly a 1/9 melt by LSU fans that spout off about conference champions. When you have to pick division winners based off tie breakers like their eastern opponents record and then say shite like Conference championships because that was decided on the field! The system for deciding conference champions isn't always right either

Be funny if LSU ran the table at 6-2 lost the sec tiebreaker to because of eastern opponents and watched a 10-2 ohio st big 10 champion take their spot without a win over a ranked opponent.

Conference champion carries no weight because schedules aren't equal and neither are conferences. Let's say this year LSU played Uga and @carolina lost them both and went 10-2 but ole miss went 9-3 losing to LSU, Boise st and UAB. But beat vandy and Kentucky from the east.

Let's end the whining once and for all. If LSU was the better team they would have and SHOULD have won that BCSCG. Hell it was played in Louisiana practically a home game.

But the best team won, and it was not close. When you get mudholed like that you don't have an argument. The reason all the whining was going on was LSU fans KNEW they were not the better team, and events proved them right. They wanted to play an easy game and get coronated.
