Location mixed with lack of local talent. Fayetteville is awesome, but it's not the easiest place to get to, so parents don't generally care for it. Nobody wants to spend $1000 a person to fly into Bentonville, then drive 45 minutes to Fayetteville just to see your kid play. That mixed with lack of in-state talent, and you have a tough time recruiting.

Does anyone really want to be seen in public saying "Woo pig sooi"

We don't have a heavy crop of in-state talent...we have to recruit elsewhere which makes it tough considering it's tucked in the NW corner of AR.
I say we do quite well with what we get.
This year's class can't be blamed on Bielema and staff, however.

True, but that doesn't have anything to do with the current discussion.

Recruits expect to see nicer tits on co-eds than the coach recruiting them.

Clearly you've never been to Fayetteville.

If you can't figure out on your own why this years class is rated so low at the moment then I don't know what to tell you.
With that being said, if we can close with Alex Collins, Dwayne Johnson, Damon Mitchell and maybe flip Kenny Lacy then this class ends up top 20 which would be impressive as hell considering the circumstances.

Not exactly a new topic but Arky is in Arky which has only a handful of National recruits in any given year. Thus they have to recruit OOS. While Fayetteville is a pretty town it doesn't appeal to a lot of kids who can stay home in the South and play for great programs. They used to do very well in Texas but have really struggled in recent years, really the pipeline has never been the same since they left the SWC in that regard but they still got guys like Davis more recently.
With A&M and Mizzou now able to offer the SEC in those states it isn't going to get easier. They can certainly turn it around and have something to offer but it's always hard to win on someone else's turf if you don't have a trump card.
Essentially it is the same problems UT has except worse. The rise of Florida, South Carolina, and LSU have really taken their toll on a lot of OOS recruiting areas for UT. Just a lot more competition now. UT has more prestige and resources though and Tennessee has more talent than Arky as a state.. Arky has succeeded by some good coaching hires and developing talent but the deck is stacked against them somewhat. If they can break through and win while some of their competitors falter they can overcome some of that but right now they are digging out of a hole.

Petrino never had tier 1 classes either. He coached em up.
He didn't but he got a some star offensive skill power. It's not like he had 3-stars everywhere doing the big work for him.
Ryan Mallett = 5 star
Tyler Wilson = 4 star
Jarius Wright = 4 star
Joe Adams = 4 star
Knile Davis = 4 star
Petrino was just awful putting together a decent defense. But took a usually average OL with great skill players and put together a good O.

yes it would be.... not sure if all that happens but it would be nothing short of a small miracle by BB and co. if it did.

Not enough black people in AR, especially NWA, compared to LA and AL

Didn't he legitimately play at Da U?
