2011 LSU defense was better, 2011 Bama was just better overall on Jan 9th.

If the past dictates the future, you'll never see Auburn win a national title again. But it's really just about enjoying every season and being alive and kicking it.

Most stats would disagree.

Fun hypothetical. The greatest individual talent I've ever seen vs. the greatest defense I've ever seen. Would love to see that one.

No consensus will come from this thread. I think all AU fans think Cam finds a way to pull it off and all Bama fans think the D would find a way to stop him.

i dont think i need to remind everyone who was the HC of 2010 AU

Hypothetically, if Malzahn had full control of the 2010 team with Cam under C.....

think of what he did with NM(not to take anything away from him, but he didnt have the size, strength, and accuracy Cam had)

Sound logic.

Alabama played 1 great team in 2011 and went 1 and 1. That Bama schedule was a joke.

LSU and Bama were all time squads that year, but the sec in 2010 was miles better than the shite show it was in 2011.

Both 11 Bama/LSU would blow out 10 Auburn. Both offense would easily score on Auburn, and both defenses would lockdown the Auburn passing game. No one except GSU in a fluke game with missing starters and no effort had success running on Bama, and a weaker 2010 defense did fine vs Auburn's rushing attack.

Yeah, if our past history read AU hasn't won a NC since 1994, you might be onto something there. Given the last one was in 2010, I'm not worried, especially since Malzahn had a part in that NC, and came close again in 2014 -in his 1st season as head coach, nonetheless.

interesting... there were some pretty badass Offenses that year... yet AU still outscored them and held most well under their avg. they performed when it mattered...

but you lost the most recent one, so if going off past history you would go back to the last NC you all played in.

I don't think that is how football works personally, but that is the way it would have to work or else the whole system wouldn't make any sense because people would just pick and choose which parts of their past history they wanted to be representative of the future.

2010 Auburn could barely beat 2010 Alabama (along with about half of the other teams they played).

Huge LOL at anyone who thinks "going undefeated" somehow says a team is somehow superior. The schedules they play and the manner in which they win/lose has to be taken into account.

Example, 2009 Alabama went undefeated and 2011 & 2012 Alabama did not but there is no doubt in my mind 2011/2012 were far superior teams to 2009.

This is a thread pertaining to a matchup that never took place to begin with, a 'what-if', so my throwing in my opinion that AU wins (the faux 2010 vs 2011 matchup), based on the fact that you guys haven't beaten us in 20 years (whenever we're up to 9+ wins), is my prerogative.

You're right schedule is very important which is why going undefeated against 7 ranked teams is 100x more impressive than losing a game against 3 (one being in a rematch).

Thanks for helping prove our point.

Didnt Auburn have a Heisman trophy winner in 2010? Did Alabama in 2011?

i was simply extrapolating on your hypothetical scenario and saying that auburn won't win another championship.

actually I didn't do any extrapolation, just supported another poster's with a more detailed description.
