Whipped a talented Alabama team in '83 NCAA tourney. Selection committee screwed Bama, the much lower seeded Lamar was playing in their home state.

Basketball team hasn't been relevant since the early 1980's -- they made the Sweet Sixteen in 1980. Have put three players in the NBA -- but none since Adrian Caldwell in the late 80's.

Tubbs retired several years ago.

Um, the enrollment is just north of 14,000 -- larger than SMU and TCU, and just shy of Baylor.

It's part of the Texas State University System; nothing little -- or Baptist -- about it.

We had to schedule another game close to LA for all the recruits we've stolen from LSU. Their families want games they can attend easily.

Lamar would be the fourth largest university in Louisiana; with about 2,000 more students it would be #2.
