Everyone needs to stop bitching and watch WR R Foster absolutely destroy some dude with a block towards the beginning of that clip.

We all cheat. We just don't pay the ref's as much as your guys do.

Practical example: Cheating one's way to a passing grade in sixth grade English class. :coco2:

All the more reason to take at least some measure of pride in your work, in my opinion.

Did you even know those were the rules of holding?
Ive seen 2 people clearly state that grabbing the jersey is "not holding"

Sorry, don't get my interpretation of CFB rules from movies, unwritten (bama)rules,or message board Yea Hoos.

Ive actually seen this form of holding called and enforced but not nearly enough.

Clearly you don't know much about football.

I don't you could make it more clear that you never actually played football or if you did you never learned how to block properly.

Several years of coaching offensive line

WGAS?And I highly doubt you coached anywhere or went to any clinics.

Played HS ball and 1 year of FCS ball and forgotten more about CFB than you'll ever know. And I also have to friends that were SEC officials.

Are we really comparing
resumes on messeage boards? Are you really this
freakin dense?

So are you saying when this form of holding is called (which it is)the officials are incorrect?Or does the rulebook need to changed?

Better yet, find ONE SEC linesman or umpire that would
confirm this interpretation of the rules.

Tell ya what... Go find one single offensive lineman at any 4 year University. If they tell you that they're taught not to hold inside the numbers, I'll start a public apology thread, give you my phone number and apologize to you personally over the phone.

If you're interested, I can give you Rob Sale's e-mail address for you to ask him directly what type of hand placement he teaches.

Shoot me an e-mail at TuscaloosaTD@gmail.com

From the NFL Rulebook:

quote:

LEGAL BLOCK BY OFFENSIVE PLAYER

Article 2: Legal Block by Offensive Player. An offensive player is permitted to block an opponent by contacting him with his head, shoulders, hands, and/or outer surface of the forearm, or with any other part of his body that is not prohibited by another rule.

A blocker may use his arms, or open or closed hands, to contact an opponent on or outside the opponent’s frame (the body of an opponent below the neck that is presented to the blocker), provided that he does not materially restrict him. The blocker immediately must work to bring his hands inside the opponent’s frame, and as the play develops, the blocker is permitted to work for and maintain his position against an opponent, provided that he does not illegally clip or illegally push from behind.

quote:

(c) Use his hands or arms to materially restrict an opponent or alter the defender’s path or angle of pursuit. Material
restrictions include but are not limited to: I. grabbing or tackling an opponent;
II. hooking, jerking, twisting, or turning him; or III. pulling him to the ground.
Penalty: For holding by the offense: Loss of 10 yards.
