Two teams will sit at home this year for the last time. Auburn looks like a lock. Who is the other team to miss the SEC tourney?

LSU has a ton of work to do. They or Ole Miss are likely to be sitting at home looking at the remaining schedules.

Auburn is a lock. And it appears a 3 way race between lsu, ole miss, and mizzou. I would bet mizzou to miss as well.

Auburn and Missouri

Ole Miss and LSU will play better down the stretch.

I don’t think Missouri misses the tourney. Their first three SEC series where against Arkansas, Kentucky, and Vandy. They started off 1-8 in SEC play. Since their schedule got a little easier they have gone 5-4. They do have still have to play Tennessee which may be ugly.. But they also get Auburn. And Mississippi State and Alabama. They can very possibly go .500 the rest of the way. If they do they won’t miss the tourney.

Don't forget the manager is in his first year. Next year he will get the team to play better with better players and this Mizzou team did play better so far than last year's team.

You also have to see the schedule for each team. That does matter big time.

I just posted who Missouri plays. Alabama is still not out of the woods. They play LSU, Auburn. State, and Ole Miss. On paper that is easier than Kentucky, GA, TN, Charlie Condon, South Carolina and Texas A&M. I think they go 6-6 the rest of the way and finish 13-17 and make a regional as a 2 seed.

See my post above about schedules. Mississippi State has already played LSU, Auburn and Ole Miss. Those three teams are currently in the three last places in the SEC. State went 6-3 against them. Remove them and you don’t have a winning record.

We will know in a month who is better.

And one of those teams with a winning SEC record is ranked 57 in RPI while one of the losing teams is ranked 22. And the team with the winning conference record is not ranked in the top 25 while one of those with a losing record is 18. Schedule does matter.

Remember when Mississippi State was on the NCAA tourney bubble in basketbal because of their strength of schedule? They just squeaked in and lost the first game of the tournament to a barely .500 team. Just saying.

That sure sounds different than being almost a lock.

LSU has to win every series with a couple of sweeps. They needed a sweep this weekend. They have a certain loss in a couple of weeks. It may come down to who wins the series between them and Ole Miss. loser stays home. Neither really has much of a shot at the postseason.

LSU has 4 series remaining: Auburn, A&M, @ Bama, and OMiss. I like our chances at getting enough SEC wins to make Hoover.
