Subtle? Literally the grittiest picture in the thread (followed by Missouri guy and then Josh Smith rearing to knock somebody out with a bloody leg, so much grit). Little guy makes a great catch while get hammered and holds on to the ball. That's pure grit.

Little brother syndrome, as shown above, is the opposite of grit. A gritty guy like Will Hastings would shake his head at this.
