Shaq was really raw and not very good his freshman year. He exploded his 2nd season though and was pretty dominant.
Didn't he battle some injuries his 3rd season?

Ansu Sesay or Matt Freije

Although his play wasn't conducive to winning basketball, it has to be Maravich. His numbers dwarf everybody's.

Best player while in the SEC was Pistol Pete.
Best player of all-time from the SEC is Shaq. And that isn't that close. Bob Pettit or Chuck is probably second.

During her four years at the University of Kentucky, she scored more points than any other basketball player, male or female, with 2,763 points.
Fantastic!! That's only about 800 fewer than Maravich scored in three seasons Prior to the 3-pt line.

My dad used to tell me stories how Pistol use to just pull up from almost half court and just drain them and that was before the 3pts. Could you imagine.

Pete Maravich scored 3667 in 3 years, so no she didn't.

In college it's Maravich. In the pros I have to give Shaq, Barkley, King and Pettit an edge over Pete, largely because his NBA career was injury-shortened. Overall best I'd still go with Pete with a slight edge over Shaq. All of the above are college HoFers and all but King were chosen amongst the NBA's 50 greatest.

Pistol Pete ...and it's not even debatable

The stat he cited was incorrect. Valerie Still is the leading all-time for any Kentucky player. Dan Issel holds the men's record with 2943 in 3 seasons. Pistol holds the SEC record, and thank God they didn't count threes then

44 ppg. Absolutely disgusting. No way it will ever be touched.

Probably Pistol Pete.
As good as Arkansas has been historically, we've never had an outright superstar on any team.
We've had some stars, Sydney Moncrief, Ron Brewer, Marvin Delph, Joe Kleine, U.S. Reed, Corliss Williamson, Oliver Miller, Todd Day, Lee Mayberry, Joe Johnson, Patrick Beverly, etc...but none who were just outright..."Hey, you're the greatest in your league of all time" type of guys
