So the courts have ruled there are no rules on NIL. Yet non-compete clauses have been taken to court and ruled legal.

What school’s collective do you think has the balls to be the first to include a non-compete clause in a NIL contract? That would fix the transfer portal issue for that player really quickly. And will they be up front about it? Or bury it down deep in the contract?

So your plan is to make unhappy players stay? Bold strategy

Yep. If you receive $500,000, you stay. You can’t just take the money, decide you are unhappy, and transfer to a rival the next year for another half million. If you want to transfer you are welcome to. Here player X, here is the list of schools you can transfer to based upon your contract:

Valdosta State
Coffee Community College
East Mississippi

Schools and coaches have dealt with unhappy and disgruntled players since there were teams. Employers have dealt with unhappy and disgruntled employees since forever. This isn’t new

And most salaried employees have signed non-compete clauses restricting where they can leave and go work until a certain period of time has expired. Based upon their non-compete clause.

If players are going to get the benefits of being high paid salaried employees, why should they not have to sign an employment contract like the vast majority of other people? Again, most everyone here that is employed by someone and is on salary has signed one. You can leave but you can’t go to work immediately for a competitor. Who will be the first to explore this same principal in athletics?

The one that plans to not sign anyone? All that would do is be a recruiting advantage for every school recruiting against them.

Quit being an idiot. They aren’t paid upfront. If Nico left today he would only get 1/3rd of his contract. He has obligations he has to meet in Knoxville to get paid.
