You can't use numbers and statistics to judge the greatness of a rivalry. It's both pointless and dumb.

An Alabama coach has to win both games on a consistent basis in order to keep his job.

Whoever is good at that point in time. Sometimes it's Auburn. Sometimes it's Tennessee. Sometimes it's LSU or Florida.

Alabama is everyone's Super Bowl.

Tennessee vs Alabama most definitley rivals Alabama vs Auburn in North Alabama. It isn't even debatable.

In the other 75% of the state? On the whole, no, especially not since AU-UA seemed to rev up when the Tubs streak started and TSIO began to wane as years passed from Fulmergate. But there are a lot of Bammers in North Alabama/Nashville/Chattanooga/Memphis and this game is just as big as Auburn. Always has been, always will be.

No it doesn't. Not in this sense.

Exactly.

By that logic, Army-Navy isn't a rivalry because it's been 15 years since Army won a game in the series.

Tennessee is 1B or 1 to people from certain parts of the state/region the same way Georgia is 1B or 1 to Auburn folks from or living in Metro Atlanta. Most of it is based on where you are, where you grew up and what your experiences were.

They are more like an annoying fly and a joke to UGA fans.

For me it is Auburn.

The Tennessee game is big. It's important. And their orange is just as ugly as Auburn's. Tennessee is the biggest October rivalry...But Auburn is bigger over all.

I equate Alabama/Tennessee to what most other rivalries are. OU/TX, Ohio State/Michigan, Florida State/Miami. The Iron Bowl leaves all of those in the dust.

Probably depends on age of the fan.

If you have to pick one or the other between Auburn and Tennessee, I'd pick AU b/c it's in state and you have to live with them 365. However, historically UT is the 2nd best team in the conference so beating them is always good.

Auburn really didn't start to become a bigger rival until the mid 80's.

I would actually say that the Bama-AU game became a rivalry in the 70's, at least that's the way I see it. I was a kid, but remember being distraught after the Punt Bama Punt game.

And the Aubs, while certainly having their ups and downs over the years, always seemed to frick our seasons up when we'd least expect it.

Pretty much this for me.

Auburn is our biggest rivals.

However I truly hate rocky top. Their fans, their players, their coaches, their history. It is all deplorable in my eyes.

I don't think an Auburn fan has any say in who we view as our primary rival, but the obsession is obvious Kyle.
