Having been to Norman a few times, I give zero fricks. Its not a bad town, if being board-flat and next to OKC are ok things.

Much like with Missouri, in spite of the relative proximity, we have very little history with OU in most sports, including football.

Norman is a fun college town. I've been for games multiple times. OKC isn't great but it's not bad for a small city

Norman has an ok little strip of bars at Campus Corner. I've seen JBS at some patio bar there many years back. It doesn't have a helluva lot of charm or scenery or anything else, though. I would never want to be stuck there in May or anytime tornadoes were a possibility. That goes for all of the OKC metro area, though. It is a magnet.

I've always had fun at Campus Corner. The tailgating and gameday scene is pretty solid too. The Greek houses are badass. It does have a weird mish mash feel of college town/suburb though. All in all it's a pretty good gameday/nightlife scene IMO

I thought I'd compliment this thread with a rather depressing photo of the Campus Corner area at the edge of campus:

I was there in 2002 for the Alabama-Oklahoma game. I enjoyed it.

every college town I've been to, including Norman has at least a couple of decent bars, but if that's your standards, they are low indeed...

I didn't see much difference in the game day atmosphere in Norman in 2002, than I did in Columbia in 2012. But the stadium atmosphere at Oklahoma was very "SEC-like".

Oki city/Norman to watch a football game? Believe me it's no treat, none at all. I'm just curious if anyone, esp, Arky or Aggie fans think adding the Oki's to the SEC would be a good idea. Speaking for most MU fans I can say no, we don't want them and the idea of adding them is really ludicrous, fuk the rest of bev10, (except ISU, hope they land on their feet).

Norman's shortcomings as a tourist destination don't factor into this at all. First, they aren't going anywhere until either the Big XII dissolves or the current grant of rights expires in another 10 years or so. Second, the SEC isn't looking to expand. Third, if some cataclysmic event were to cause the breakup of the ACC, the SEC would take a couple of ACC schools (preferably including UNC, but from somewhere in the tobacco growing part of the conference) before looking to the Great Plains.

Add the new Texas' Bitch? I don't think so. Aggies escaped prickheads from Austin. Everyone else can stick it.

You're right, it's nothing special. I attended an olympic soccer tryout there, and that stadium has nothing on most SEC stadiums.

CoMo beats the shite out of Norman and Stillwater.

I've lived in OK and MO.

I think the land thieves would do fine in the SEC, but I don't want them for selfish reasons. It would be interesting to watch them finish with a losing season, though, and their fans would be the new bane of the SEC.

I'd be cool with the SEC taking OU and TCU to round it out, but frick the other Big 12 schools. OU has plenty of upside to outweigh the negatives and I have no quarrel with TCU.

TCU brings nothing to the table. Probably the worst addition to the SEC would be TCU with Baylor a close second.

TCU can't even sell out home games this year. I don't see the logic at all.
