Credit for executing your game plan, but we played like shite, Hurd only got 4 carries in the 2nd half, Dobbs didn't run, and our defense was slipping and sliding all over the field.

Shitty play
Shitty play calling
Shitty conditions

We would have lost to almost anyone that night.

After you guys kicked a fg in 3rd qtr, you only ran 14 offensive plays that were not a punt.

Not much of an opportunity for your offense when Arkansas is playing ball control.

Arkansas ran 42 plays in the 2nd half.

UT could easily be 7-0.

Not saying they should, but every loss was by one score.

Same good team that had three wins the year before? Tennessee had a better team when Butch took over. Its not even a debate

I think it's Gus. I can see Butch making progress. Gus and his boys seem to be taking a step back.

Wow.

I suppose you'll also say that your team hasn't gotten worse every year since Gus was hired.

Both get 1 more year. Butch is stock piling talent for the next coach, unlike Dooley. Tennessee is going to be a monster once they get a game manager.

Auburn fired Chizik for less. And he actually WON the NC.

What does Gus' new extension look like? I heard he got a new contract recently...something like +$14mm through '18 or '19.

Gus has already used his get out of jail free card by firing Johnson. Butch's team seems to be competing each week and 3 4th quarter collapses away from being 6-1 whereas Gus's group is a hot mess and woulda coulda shoulda be 1-6.

What ever happened to "the game has passed Saban by"?

I remember before the season began, the website coacheshotseat.com had Saban in the top 10. I've known that site was ridiculous for awhile, but I was shocked that it was that out of touch.

Know what? The more I think about, I think it could be Gus. I used to think he was a great coach, now I'm not so sure. Good, not great. Yes, he took AU to a championship game, but so did Chiz and Larry Coker at Miami - and they won. I think anyone can catch lightning in a bottle and win or come close to winning. Being able to sustain winning long term is what makes you great.

If Butch is able to keep building, he'll eventually win too. His plan seems to be one of long-term growth. Many of us forget just how terrible Tennessee was. Auburn on the other hand has had talent but has gone backwards and underperformed now two seasons in a row. Not good.

That's not going to happen IMO. I think UA probably wins in a close one, but Lawson will be back by then and White will have settled in nicely at QB. The West will be decided by that point (LSU), and we all know what happens to Nick Saban teams when the season doesn't mean anything substantial.

When UGGGA loses to UF we can add Richt for the trifecta.

These spread offenses (HUNH) are so star dependent that there is no sustainability. A coach is a genius as long as he has one or two outstanding players. I'd rather build a team around 11 good players.
