Coaches are competitive and they’re narcissistic. One cannot get to the top level without an inflated sense of worth.

Auburn is his best fit. They can even give him a televangelist TV show, then he could run for public office as a goober Republican after he flames out.

Because liberty is smart enough to extend him so they can get paid when some school comes calling and outbids them. I know they have a ton of money in their own right but him leaving is just a matter of time. Liberty isnt getting a power 5 invite anytime soon and are going to just be able to play spoiler occasionally.

That explains why Liberty wanted to resign him. My question is, why would freeze want to make it more difficult to financially pull him away, especially in a COVID year if he's looking for that next great thing?

Maybe he and the Lord decided he needed to continue his rehab?

USC has had recent history with scandals, and he would have no consistent competition except Oregon in the Pac 12 CG. He's a bad fit from a background standpoint, but he'll win big and they'll overlook everything he needs them to - which is a perfect fit in that sense.

I mean its leverage. There is no offer in hand at the moment and he had the opportunity to get paid one way vs the potentially getting paid the other. He doesnt take that contract extension he might lose his current teams trust because they know he's trying to bounce. If another team wants to steal him bad enough let them pay that buyout. Its not like half of our schools arent staring down the barrel of paying absurd buyouts already.

I wouldn't touch Hugh Freeze with a 9 foot pole for few more years. He flat out lied to his AD and caused Ole Miss to get on probation.

Finebaum has him auditioning constantly and he's not saying no. In between episodes, he resigns with Liberty. Hugh freeze's agent knows exactly where he stands with potential suitors at all times. And what is Sankey conveying to SEC ADs on the subject?

Would have said Auburn - but after everything that has come out about LSU he'd be a great fit there

However, I don't think the SEC is going to allow him back anytime soon

USC would never hire Freeze, and Freeze would never go to USC.

Unless we fire Pruitt this season, someone else is gonna grab him. Freeze wants the UT job per his buddy Chris Low, and now Feldman is all talking about how Freeze is willing to wait on the UT job, but with our history of waiting one year too long on changes, someone is gonna wave a giant wad of cash in front of him. We've missed on more than one that wanted to be here and would've made fans happy because we've never gotten the timing right.

Yeah but that happens all the time and coaches still get hired away. Heck he could have done it just so Liberty will get more $$ when he gets bought out. Anyone know the buyout amount?

No idea. If we were officially searching I'm sure UT fans would be albe to tell you but since we're still in unofficial mode, I got nothing. Liberty is private so a lot of that stuff isn't discussed (Vanderbilt doesn't discuss much about what it pays its coaches either).

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Freeze doesn't have a rider on certain schools regarding buyouts. Even though he wasn't exactly in good standing, Liberty was pretty desperate when they hired him.
