I would like to trade aTm for UTx, but something about the longhorn network or something will prevent this from happening. Also UNC or Duke for Mizzou. Mizzou was supposed to be an upgrade for SEC BB, but they haven't lived up to the hype. It won't happen because UNC and Duke would be like another Kentucky. Football season would be miserable, but that bbball tho.

Our basketball program literally had one of the worst, if not the worst, season in its history this past year.

Missouri has some incredible recruits coming out in the next few years, and while we usually don't land those guys, we'll land Michael Porter Jr. (look him up), being compared to the next Kevin Durant

Well, that's if you guys don't snatch him first lol.

I don't know why but I thought for sure we would land Antonio Blakeney

They can't get UVA, but not having an NC school wouldn't stop them if they could.

That's the point of the thread.

North Carolina and Oklahoma.

North Carolina won't/can't leave the ACC.

Oklahoma won't leave Okie Light behind.

Kick A&M out and add Texas.

The reason it won't work is self-explanatory.

UVA and UNC are the only two schools worth adding (that make any sense). Neither are leaving the ACC, so the SEC is not expanding until that changes.

A VA of NC school make the most sense from a geographic and media market share perspective.

I don't think it would have to be UVA or UNC though. If any combo of UVA, UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake or Va Tech wanted on board, the SEC would go for it.

What prevents it from happening are:
ACC fan allegiance (and they would forgo decades long established rivalries,
and
ACC buyout clause they put into effect a few years ago,

The above might change if the SEC continues to dominate college athletics and the revenue gap between the SEC and ACC schools becomes so great that it would equal the buyouts in a 1-3 year period. Also, if the conference starts to crumble b/c of perceived favoritism or unfair treatment (as in the Syracuse and UNC situations.)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOklahomaaaaaa!! Only one reason though. Okie State. Legislature won't let one go without the other the SEC wouldn't want Okie State. Oh yea thought of a second reason, the state is a barren wasteland that has a little oil under it.

Kansas and North Carolina so SEC can say it's the top basketball conference to go along with top football conference. It won't happen because it's hard to see UNC leaving Duke behind and Kansas doesn't bring enough to the conference outside of basketball.

1.a Texas - Little brother would cry
1.b FSU - Too close to UA, AU, UF and UGA.

2.a OU - Their too scared to replace Kansas and Iowa St with LSU and Bama every year on their schedule.
1.b VT - Wouldn't leave ACC

I agree. VT and NCSU.

It won't happen because of the GoR and because both leagues are ESPN leagues.

Why wouldn't the SEC want Oklahoma and Oklahoma State? State has looked pretty good the last decade in sports. Are they bad in other areas the SEC wants?

Because OU doesn't add any eyeballs or expand the SEC footprint to any degree. And Ok. St. really doesn't add anything either. This is the same reason why neither the PAC or the B1G added them when they tried to leave.

My old semi-alma mater Southern Illinois. They wouldn't bring much in the way of sports, their academics are fairly so-so, but I do have fond, though hazy, memories of the school's proud tradition of non-stop drinking.

It won't work because the SEC strength of schedule would plummet below the Sunbelt's.
