I watched every LSU game this year. Fournette has very little patience as a runner and runs right at linebackers when there are open holes around him. Those huge fast and powerful runs inflate his yards per carry. He is a great RB, but he will never reach the Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma level. And that is what everyone thought he would do.

C is not on the same tier as A or B.

The associated press put Robert Nkemdiche on the All SEC Defensive first team. Guess what the Coaches did, left him off ANY team. Good job, AP. Clearly they know their stuff.

Well the coaches named him freshman of the year too. Any other awards he won that I forgot to mention?

LSU being LSU. The losses just keep adding up while their players continue to be GOAT. Mathematically unpossible.

No you didn't. That isn't how he runs at all, ESPECIALLY late in the year. You are literally making things up. You know how I know you don't know what you're seeing, Fournette's packages were almost exclusively lead, bend counter, misdirection, and stretch. 75% of those plays employ zone blocking which required him to cut back. He isn't running into linebackers. He might pick the wrong crease or cut back to soon, but what you are "seeing" isn't likely to occur on his package given the scheme.

quote:

“He was hitting the hole with great decisiveness,” said left guard Vadal Alexander, the reigning SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after recording 11 knockdown blocks against Florida. “He would hit it, he’ll make a cut without thinking about it and he’ll just go and let his athleticism and talent take over.

“That’s the best thing to do as a running back is we open the holes for you and you just let your talent guide you – your vision and your feel for the defense and things like that. He did that.”

Fournette apparently agrees with that assessment, telling reporters after the game that he is starting to catch on after running more tentatively in the first few games.

“I’m a lot better than where I was when the season started,” Fournette said. “The game, it slowed down for me a lot for me now. That’s why I’m being able to see the cutbacks now. [It’s] just coaching and getting help from Kenny and Terrence and Connor and all the older guys. They help me a lot.”

What a fulfilling life you must lead

In any case, LSU country is over the moon today. Probably better days to troll tbh.

Go through my post history. I often post in the LSU game threads on the rant. Sorry I'm not biased. When I watch, Fournette, I'm not impressed. Watching Zeke and Chubb is actually fun.

Early in the year yeah but he eventually started cutting/juking and moving more laterally.

his coach features a back (Mussa, Moreno, Gurley, Lumpkin, etc.) as opposed to the more committee approach, etc.

Uh, Musa was the only lone back on that list. Otherwise UGA has run a committee ever since:

Kregg Lumpkin/Danny Ware/Thomas Brown
Knoshown Moreno/Thomas Brown
Caleb King/Washaun Ealey
Todd Gurley/Keith Marshall
Nick Chubb/Todd Gurley/Sony Michel

and next year it will be

Nick Chubb/Sony Michel/Keith Marshall

No one cares. I'm just telling you that your criticism is asinine given the scheme. You might not be explaining it right, but it appears to be made up because LSU doesn't run him in a package where he would do what you are describing.

I was just talking about this the other day with my bro. LF and Chubb are the only two backs in the nation next year Id take over Elliot. Those two are 1a and 1b. Elliot is 2

I'm not going to go through them game-by-game, but what I was trying to imply is not that there weren't other guys getting carries, but that it is more likely that a Georgia running back hits the 20 carry mark than an LSU running back over the time period that Miles and Richt overlap. Not saying it never happened that LSU did it more in a season (2007 would be my guess because LSU did feature Hester a lot, but that would also coincide with Moreno, I believe), just that I think Richt gives his main guy more touches on average.

Yep, you don't want those types of runs. Those are GLOREE BOY runs that shouldn't count, IMO. #hottaek

You can have the stiff and powerful Fournette. I'll take the elusive backs who also possess some serious power, and I'm not going to apologize for it.

No one is asking you to apologize or change who you think is better or anything. All I'm doing is pointing out that your criticism isn't based on fact. Can we agree that we should try and ground criticism in fact if we are going to make it? Do you agree that a criticism should have a basis in fact? Let's start there. Serious question.

Just because it's a zoneblocking scheme, doesn't mean a player isn't running right into linebackers. There are still lanes in a zoneblocking scheme. It's about choosing the right one (and time) to cut back into. I'm a Texans fan who watches Arian Foster every week. I know what a good zone running back looks like.
