It's a fact that both Alabama and LSU are the top 2 in the SECW. That will be the case for near future 3-5 years and I do not see a team that will be able consistently move ahead either team.

The top candidates would be: ARK, Au, A & M (sorry MSU fans I don't think you will consistenly be able to move ahead of the above 3)

1-Arkansas- currently is 3rd but depending on who they hire, if JLS doesn't work out this year, they could fall or stay the same. I really liked where Petrino had the program heading; in fact, I thought the Hawgs would really challenge Bama and LSU this year and as long as CBP was at ARK. This will be ARK's most critical hire ever for the football program.

2- Au- Should be in the hunt for the SECW but I just don't think they will get to the consistent elite level of LSU and BAMA. They will struggle again this year with 4 Losses or more, does the seat get warm for CGC after another disappointing season? How bad will it hurt recruiting?(has been really good lately). Historically they are better than ARK and A & M so they should be consistently 3rd but ARK has their # lately and A & M has just as much, if not more, potential.

3- A & M - They've been very inconsistent over the last several years. Just moved to the SEC, New Coach and etc. But they have some really good players and being based in the hot bed of recruiting they should be able to capatilize on the SEC move. I think they'll suprise some teams this year and finish 4-6 in the SECW.

So which team Au, ARK or A & M solidifies themselves as the 3rd best in the west?

I didn't realize we've had one disappointing season yet.

At the moment I would list it as AU Ark Miss State aTm Ole Piss.

A lot of people are buying to much into the aggies.

Honestly, with Auburn having a new OC AND DC, Arkansas having a new head coach and all their chaos, A&M having a new staff and new conference and MSU being just good enough to upset some people, 3rd place is wiiiiide open. I'm saying Arkansas has the best shot right now, but it could be anybody.

I think it will vary year to year for a while. This coming year if I had to bet, I would bet on Arky.

We will need a few more years of recruiting defensive depth to really consistently compete.

I can't really disagree with what you posted. Ark definitely has the advantage this year but the following year really depends on Coaching for them. I think MSU could suprise some teams and make a run but I just don't see them consistently being ahead of Au nor Ark. I fear for State that once Mullen really get's them going he will bolt, no real reason to feel that way but it just does.

I don't know if I agree with that...very top-heavy class at the moment.

Auburn has a better class than Bama and LSU right now imo.

However if Bama pulls Henry, Walker, Robert Foster, and Thomas...

On paper or by recruiting rankings the may be stacked, which is great and all but what happens when they play is what counts. Plus the highly rated classes(10-11) they had didn't do them much good last year. and the 13 class is a full year away and hasn't signed. Recruit like tarzan, play like jane= Au.

LSU's 2013 class is very very good, I don't really think anyone has a better class than us, maybe an equal class.

Of course you don't. You never will think anyone has a better class than LSU.

Auburn has consistently recruited will since Chizik's arrival. The previous 8 win seasons obviously didn't hurt much (if at all). So if Auburn does win 8 or 9 again and the losses are competitive I don't think it will hurt us at all and he will not be on any in danger of losing his job.

They haven't had the OC and DC to help out those big classes. Now they do. Why do homer Bama fans and Rantards act like Auburn isn't recruiting on our level?
