Last year, 3 (Bama, Tennessee, Arkansas) of 9 reached the Sweet 16 before losing to SD State, FAU, and UConn, respectively.

I think Auburn in the East makes the Sweet 16 before losing to UConn.

Kentucky as a 3 seed, with its scoring and depth, looks to have a clear path in the South to the Elite 8 and maybe the Final 4, where Marquette is the 2 seed, Duke the 4 seed and Houston the 1 seed. Houston has won a lot of close games this year, but Buzz and aTm could be a bad matchup for them with their superb guard play, great rebounding and getting to the line. So aTm could reach the Sweet 16 in this region, but probably doesn't get past Duke. I see Duke and Kentucky for old times' sake in the Elite 8. Florida could be a dark horse in this region, but losing their starting big man will make advancing difficult.

Bama as a 4 in the West should get to the Sweet 16, but probably won't make it past NC if the Heels make it past Michigan State or Mississippi State, which they most likely will.

In the Midwest, Tennessee almost certainly should make it to the Sweet 16 by beating St. Peters and either Texas or Colorado State. Next up, though, will probably be Creighton, which will be a tough but hardly an insurmountable hurdle. That shapes up to be their toughest game because the top of the bracket is not that great. Purdue is very beatable, despite Edey, because of their lack of athleticism. Typical B1G slug it out team. And this year's KU at 4 seed is pretty weak with poor shooting from 3. Same for Gonzaga. I believe this is the year Tennessee will be heading to the Final 4 barring the reappearance of Regular Season Rick. Teams needs 3 very good to great players to do it, and UT has Knecht, Aidoo and Zeigler.

So might it be a UK-UT matchup in the Final 4? It very well could be unless I'm vastly overrating the SEC.

So UK and UT are my picks to advance the farthest.

IMO, Alabama could theoretically beat UNC and make it to the Elite 8 before losing to Arizona. They could also lose in the First Round to Charleston. We've all seen this movie before.

Kentucky is perhaps one of the most dangerous teams in the tournament and Houston has shown they're vulnerable.

When they're firing on all cylinders, Tennessee is one of the best teams in the whole tournament, and I just don't buy into the Purdue hype, especially if the refs call Edey like they should.

That being said, we could get both meeting in the Final Four (and I actually would like to see it).

More likely though is something weird happening, especially in the Midwest. There's a really odd grouping of teams in that region that could be anywhere from terrible to great, so I think that one is just really hard to predict.

Kentucky's path is probably the more straightforward, but we just don't know which team will show up game-to-game.

Guess that's why this time of year is so exciting!

Auburn, Bama, and UK all make the final 4. (Future SEC team UT beats UT)

Auburn beats Bama to go to the Championship on a controversial call.

UK beats Creighton.

Auburn wins it all.
