I would think that's true for all D1 teams, not just SEC; Like Spurrier said, with 10 number one classes in a row Tide should win the Natty every year.

If that was the case, then Spurrier should've followed his own advice 
He had the top players coming to his school for 11+ years and only got 1 mulligan, 4 or so SECCGs out of it, and the worst beating in national championship history.
I hope he trolls more this off season. I wanna see what he says now that his program has been embarrassed to the highest degree.
