Yea, lost in the second round as a 2 seed. Lost as a 5 seed to UWM and Bruce Pearl. Took a team that reached #1 in December to a first round loss as a ten seed. He could recruit, but can't coach and always underachieved. His only great coaching job was the year we won the SEC, and again lost in the second round as a 2 seed. Even that Elite 8 run almost got shut down in the first game when we won an 8-9 matchup at the buzzer. All that said, as frustrating as his teams were, he could've stayed at Alabama forever doing that. But he obviously couldn't sustain it, his final three years were unmitigated disasters, and he was very properly let go.

It's a done deal, unless it comes out he's sleeping with Saban's daughter he'll be back. It's a shame, I wanted Gottfried gone for a couple years before we finally pulled the trigger, we may have to sit through the same with Grant.

The Grant situation sucks because my head says he needs to go, but my heart really wants him to stay and succeed.

Knowing he'll be here at least one more year, I am somewhat encouraged that a big man is finally emerging in Taylor. That's something he hasn't really had since he arrived, except his first year with Green. And I think he and Green spent most of that year butting heads so he didn't play to his potential.

I said before the season that he'd probably get another year due to all the transfers and the situation he got his damn self into.

But, I don't think it's a done deal.

Which will buy him another year of mediocrity. He's not going to suddenly turn into a great coach. Sure, some years will be better than others, but none of them are going to look much different than what we've already seen.

I'm in the same boat. I don't think the guy forgot how to coach, but for whatever reason it just isn't working out here. I fully expect he'll end up having success somewhere else which makes his situation here suck even worse.

It's an absurd buyout, though it might be slightly less than that in reality. Either way, they'd pay it in a heartbeat if they didn't want him back. Sadly they are standing behind him.
