Auburn if you don't know anyone and plan on setting up your own tailgate.
If you know someone in both towns it really just boils down to what you are looking for out of a game day experience.

I say Auburn. Tailgating at Oxford is laughable. A bunch of overdressed brats stacked together so close together competing for the best flower arrangment and hiding their booze under the table.

Alamo Stadium is pretty sweet. I might be completely off from the story but I believe Buzz Bissinger saw a HS playoff game there and that inspired him to start working on what became Friday Night Lights.
