No. State fans have an obsession with getting riled up when other people recognize or honor notable things about Oxford.

This place is pumped up and written about like it invented and perfected breakfast. In reality, it's $22 for bacon and eggs. Good stuff, but the same food you can get in any town across the South.
And no, you can’t buy this kind of meal in podunk Mississippi at the local gas station or McDonalds. Additionally, you’re being quite hyperbolic on the pricing. Yeah it’s expensive, but you can get really full on some damn good food for -$15.

If you’ve been there so many times, then why do you think they charge $22 for bacon and eggs?
I pay for a family of 4. I remember its expensive for what you get WTF does cost so much then? That's my point. It's breakfast fare.
And before I get accused of being cheap, I preferred the brunch at the Inn on weekends

In MS, there are more MSU fans.
Out of MS, there are more Ole Miss fans. When I was at Ole Miss around 40% of the student body was from Texas.
Along the MS and AL line there are of course the Bama bandwagoners.

The most expensive thing on their menu is $14.50, baw. You’re just wrong this time.

OK, Literal TA, I was wrong about the $22
You gonna buy me that $14.50 breakfast when I'm up again on 9/1?

I live in MS and I think its about even. For every Rankin county, mostly bulldog fans, you have a Desoto county full of Rebels. Even in Hattiesburg you see a good split of rebs/dogs which may out number eagles.
I was on the coast (Bay St Louis is nice) for a week this summer and barely saw any maroon, mainly LSU and Ole Miss fans. There is no majority rule in this state. Even in the Starkville/Columbus area you have, as many made mention already, tons of bama fans mixed in with the State fans.

I'll help pay for your breakfast next time you are in town if it helps.

Where have you been? Haven't seen you since the bold predictions about NCAA stuff

What bold predictions? What NCAA stuff? I have a job and family. I don't get to hang out on here as much as I used to. Life happens

You were always good with a sharp line or retort when I would pile on OM, it seemed. Maybe I'm mis-remembering again

I only come here to occasionally troll tbh. I've got no real hate for state. Got a lot of good friends that are state guys. We get along just fine. Have a lot in common in actually. There are people on both sides tho who can't stand the other side and it's pretty funny to watch

Yeah, usm has a very small base and it's basically all located within 50 miles of hattiesburg. People can talk about what school has little brother syndrome in each state, but in MS it's usm to both sec schools and it's really bad

By a wide margin, imo. USM is the suitcase school in the state

I would say right now the state of Mississippi has more state fans than ole miss. Don’t think it has anything to do with the state of the programs, most are loyal to just one school. The main reason is I think a large percentage of ole miss grads from Mississippi move to Nashville, Dallas, Atlanta, etc.. and the majority of state grads from Mississippi stay in Mississippi.

True. Though I have a bunch of state friends who move off to the same places ole miss folks do, just like every other sec school. I think most people in the state who don't go to either typically pull for state. There is nothing wrong with that, they just identify more easily with msu. Ole miss is more of a status thing to them and they hate it. Those types are actually the more outspoken ones, in my experience, compared to actual state alumni. As I type this I can think of several on this website who fit that bill

State has more fans inside the state
OM has more spread throughout surrounding states/SE
Altogether, State has more fans than OM.
Large contingent of LSU fans on the coast. Also bandwagon Bama fans sprinkled throughout since the dawn of Saban time.

State has always had more fans than Ole Miss in the state. Ole Miss has way more out of state students or people who move off after they graduate. State graduates tend to stay.
